Hate to break it to you bro, but commercial gyms are the ONLY place to assess a person's first year lifting. I'll guarantee you gyms like Supertraining have exactly zero people going there from day one. Most first timers are intimidated going to Gold's, they not only don't go to dedicated gyms, they've most likely never heard of them.
At the beginning of October my max bench press was 180 lbs some then it has increased to 285 lbs. It may just be newbie gains but my goal for this year it to hit 315 on bench. NO LIMITS
What Omar says is true. I've only been lifting for a year in the gym and I'm repping out 225lbs Bench, 315 Squat and 405 Deadlift. I have no background in sports and I entered the gym after a serious surgery, it's all about proper nutrition and hard work! In Omar we trust.
Omar (or anyone else who cares to respond), can you explain why I don't feel any glute stimulation in heavy sets of deadlifts and squats, but I always feel glute stimulation in lighter sets? thanks, brosky!
hello from singapore! just wondering if you could a video on tips in gym / changes in lifestyle that can help w imbalances? love your content & thank you!
I 100% know I've hit a wall due to a psychological barrier. I'm not entirely sure how to push past it. I guess I'll just have to mix up my routine. Also thinking about hitting the gym before work rather than after, that's something I've never done before.
as always great video, very good info, but you lied, you said it won't be a motivational video, this video motivated me more than 100 others I have seen. Thanks
Yea there aren't many ppl in my gym squatting 315 in my gym. I'm squatting 315 but I don't every really squat 315 (bad knees). That's not that far fetched if you consistently squat. However, it is pretty hard to get to 405 and above.
ive been lifting for almost 3 months and i bench 20 kgs( without the bar included in the weight) and squat 50 kgs and can dead lift once 70 kilos and i think im fine but am i? if someone can answer ill be happy. im 14 btw
omar, your perception is skewed because you spend too much time around freaks and on the internet. 500 pounds is "ok"? 600 pounds is "good"? if you dedicate every second of your life to the gym, yes, that qualification seems reasonable. not for everybody else though
100% mentality has alot to do with it if you go into the gym like ohh man this is hard i dont really wana do this or i dont think i can do this today already you are going to be weaker you have to hype your self up thats why you see people yelling or friends saying come on bitch get that weight up or stuff like that that mentality is really going to help give it all you got instead of defeating your self before you even start
Steroids don't necessarily make you stronger. They allow you to recover from muscle fatigue and small injuries much faster, and allow you to train often without going overboard and experiencing all the nasty effects of overtraining.
but omar, we dont have dedicated gyms in my city, only commercial gyms and crossfit gyms. I have a home gym, im fixing it up here and there to look like a legit atmospheric gym, but i dont get the interaction of other lifters. I watch videos, read articles, do research but progress can get stagnant. still fixing it up, have really big plans and ideas for it, so hopefully that helps, though i do miss a workout buddy, my old workout buddy we motivated each other we were bros, cuddled in the squat rack, made eye contact during deadlifts, it was magical, but he moved, and also before he moved he switched his workout regimen and goals.
I can agree with this… I used to go to the gym at my school where it is just full of football players yelling and powerlifting shit tons of weights and gained alot of strength then went to club fitness and saw less gains
currently i am 16 and have been lifting since the beginning of last summer, so around nine months. i took a four month break and have been back at it for two months now. I can bench 245, squat 365, and deadlift 365 at 165lbs. i cant seem to get my deadlift to grow, i lowbar squat to try to increase it but i just cant. i go to a small gym and it has some really big guys in it but they dont mess with anything other than bench press really. videos havent been helping me a whole lot so what should i do? i want to hit 1400lbs by senior year (has powerclean in with the other three) and i really need to get my deadlift up for that
3 years of lifting. 305 Clean, 335 Jerk off the Rack, 265 Snatch. Height 5'11, Weight 208. I'm a dedicated lifter but I suck, have shitty genetics I guess and I'm getting old 25 and work a full time job.
I agree Omar. I've been working out for a year and a half and I'm already squatting 435 max and deadlifting 375 max. My bench sucks though it's only at 220

I'm sure stronger than that survey. i got to 150lb squat after 5 months, And I am a girl. :O
damn I need to go to a better gym with more people that can teach me
I think even if I was on steroids it somehow wouldn't work for me. Thats how retarded my body is. It just doesn't get stronger.

I thought the numbers were a tad low for someone with direction, but I've seen plenty of people get stuck on the same 'ol same 'ol.
Nice motivational non-motivational video.
So can I say I can bench like 240 vs like the 200 i can? 😂

dont use steroids it causes stoppage normal production of testosterone in your body.
