In area of expertise(vertical jump) we call lifting the bar as fast as possible "intent" and is very important for bridging the gap between strength and speed, using lighter weights but moving them as fast as possible is still extremely hard

If your mobility or flexibility is not ready, speeds your bar will causes some injuries. Though, i saw old video that dmirtri once talk a principle that explosive speep when he lifts the bar as fast as possiple will make huge significen. One more thing, i saw kenedy clarence squats 200kg faster than i air squat

I like slower but heavy reps to keep the muscles contracted. I'd only Speed it up with lighter weights just for an energy push/rush

Just from my personal experience: I started seeing significant strength gains when doing reps as fast as I could without giving up control of the bar.

Rep speed is indirectly proportional to set difficulty. How do you simultaneously hold the belief that sets need to be taken close to failure to be productive and that reps need to be fast to illicit maximal strength gains?

This is true actually i did pr 300 on bench yesterday and it was easy af i think its all because my warm ups were explosive so for example when i warmed up with a bar i controlled it down to my chest and pressed that bar like i wanna break wall above me but my scapula was retracted and i was tight so explosive reps but slow on negative not really slow but just cotrolled and when bar touches chest you go up as fast as possible

Ofcourse, if you are holding back on bar speed when lifting heavy, you ain’t even pushing yourself. You could easily go heavier.

Some physics; F=ma. Force=mass*acceleration.

If you can accelerate your bar more(bar speed), you could instead use the same bar speed as before but with a greater mass(weight) on it

Yo Omar. Do you ever focus on singles or 5Ă—5 for rows or chins? Should you? Could do a video about this subject. How to train back and make progress in general. Should I do 5×5 for calf raises?
