i'm gonna do a 5k this year. i have never been able to run more than a minute or 2 at a time. i am getting running shoes this weekend and starting the "couch to 5k" program to prepare myself for the race sometime this summer or fall… 🙂

You're absolutely right in regards to road races. My best moment when I was running for the Komen's Race for the Cure. And I was just doing my morning run when my friend asked me if I'd do it with him this year. We went and met a physical therapist I knew. Allen asked me if I was running and I said I was going to try. Allen is like totally buffed. I crossed the finish line and grabbed some water. Two min. later Allen comes across and he looked at me …lol.. And said "No way!" lol

I don't train specifically for endurance… more of an overall guy. However, my friend convinced me to do a sprint tri (750m, 18mi, 5k) this past summer.
Everything was great… except I didn't take any sodium drinks/tabs and my legs cramped up bad in the run(quad separation) which I was so pissed about cause I was passing a ton of people!

Anyways, it was a lot of fun and it looks like you both had a ton of fun too:)
Important and fun to mix it up

Sweet well-done Gals! Did the Chicago Urbanathlon in Oct that was great craic, beer tent and all that afterwards 5500+ competitors ran all over the city, 1 mile of stairs!

Wow! I've always wanted to do a triathlon but feel it's almost like chasing a pipe dream because it seems so intimidating…this got me pumped about just getting out there and finishing. (:

hey, I'm training for my first triathlon, how many calories did you find you had to eat to sustain your energy levels? I understand you usually don't count calories, but do you feel differently about that when your training for such a big event to prevent hitting the wall? Thanks girlies! xo
