The Unusual Beauty Standard for Fitness Girls… – blogilates

by YouTube Team

Instagram is like high school…except there’s concrete evidence who’s the most popular, aka how many followers you have. And guess what happens when you’re popular? Everyone wants to be like you, talk like you, dress like you, look like you and pretty much BE YOU.

So, I wanted to decode the Instagram beauty standard for fitness influencers. What aesthetics make you one of the most followed women in the female fitness category? And how does an ideal fitness influencer’s body compare against the body of Instagram’s top 100 most followed women vs the body of the average Blogilates fan vs the body of the average US woman?

I listed out the top 100 fitness influencers on Instagram and compared them in the following categories:

Age
Height
Eye color
Eye size
Hair color
Hair length
Definition on their stomach
Lip size
Skin color
Ethnicity
Face shape
Prominence of butt
Nose size
Overall body shape

I think you will be shocked to see the results.

If you like this video on decoding the beauty standards of the ideal fitness influencer, then you’re definitely going to want to watch my first video in this series: “Decoding the Instagram Beauty Standard”:

I am glad that you are not bigger on instagram. You are influencing us in another way. With great videos – not only the pilates videos, but some like this or ask Cassey. I love it! You are my guide on my journey, helping me making it MY journey and not someones plan for me. ♥

Idk if anyone noticed this, but it seems like the expectations for women in general are represented in a more extreme way for these fitness influencers than the top female influencers?

This was very interesting. Actually, when I shared your channel with some colleagues, I was told that I just follow an Asian instructor because I'm Asian… Like, what? It's a strange world out there…

For what it's worth, I'm white as can be and you're definitely my favorite fitness influencer! You're cheerful, down to earth and I love the fact that you focus on being fit and healthy rather than the vanity of just trying to achieve a six pack and a big butt! I also LOVE this type of video! Thank you so much for being who you are and doing what you do!

When you described your average follower and the only thing I could relate to was the height😅 I’m 5’4 and that’s the only thing I have in common with the average 🤣

All of us should be happy with and grateful for our bodies. It does not matter what color you have. Just be kind, just be you!

Here i still don't understand why people glorify big butt that much. I mean, they want it to be as big as possible. What's the use of big butt tho? It's not even comfortable to sit if your butt cheeks is bigger than the chair. Huge butt just unnecessarily taking up a lot of spaces.

What’s wrong with beauty standards?

We have safety standards to keep people safe….
We have applications to make sure future-employees meet “the standard”….

And guess what? Not everyone meets those standards. And that’s ok!

I know this is an older video, but I still wanted to share my thoughts. 🙂
I'm very glad to know that I'm close to the average american woman in terms of size and body shape. 🙂 I'm a little larger, but not by much! Before 2016, I was 150 lbs, a size 18 in jeans, and a size XL in tshirts (because boobs and shoulders). Now, I'm currently 261 lbs (and pregnant), a size 24 in jeans, and a size 2X in tshirts when I'm lucky. I'm also 26 years old. I wish I could go back to the body I used to have, because I felt so much better and happier in it, but I also know that my life has changed a LOT since those days. I'm older, I'm halfway through my first pregnancy, I live in a colder climate, my gallbladder had to be removed, and I've been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and PTSD and I'm on medication for them. I probably could get close if I try hard, in all honesty… And I don't really have anything holding me back, except myself. I'm just not sure where to begin and how to keep myself going on that path. But for the sake of my son, my husband, and my own health… I want to try. Tonight, I've been looking into pregnancy safe exercise that I can do at home this winter, and planning to start walking outside as much as I can before it gets too cold!
