How did Mike achieve his pro card? If he placed 4th at ifbb universe in 75 and took 2nd in the Olympia the following year then he must have earned his pro card somewhere in between but where?

Planet Weakness
I joined one and while working out heard a siren go off two separate times. I thought that maybe there was a fire and no one looked as if it was an emergency, no mass exodus out the front door. So after realizing that I was not going to be incinerated I asked a member “what was the siren for?” and he said “someone must’ve dropped a barbell or grunted too loud.” I said “ what the fuck! There’s no way I could dream of doing a leg day in this place!” so I summarily packed my shit and immediately left and joined a real gym and never went back to that place again. As well in Planet Weakness all of the staff members were pretty much out of shape and lacked any real muscular development. And talk about lack of gym etiquette by members!: Every machine and bench was occupied and no one understood what it meant to let someone else work in.
I heard the shirt thing was fake, that they added in the scene of Waller saying he was going to take mikes shirt. And when you watch that scene you can see its cut, Ken is wearing diff clothes or something.. anyway big fan of Katz and this channel. Cheers.

Mike is a great person, friend, and long time client. I know both Mike Jr and Michelle his kids, great people. Mr Katz is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met.

The tshirt incident was faked – like almost everything else in “pumping iron.”
They noticed Waller looking mischievous on camera at about the time Katz was looking around for his shirt. The filmmakers then filmed the football scene – after the fact – to build up the rivalry, having Waller say “I’m going to steal katz’s Shirt.” Spinal Tap was more of a documentary than pumping iron.
Quite srsly “pumping iron” is all bullshit. Arnold has told countless variations over the years of his father’s funeral and his failure to attend that you’d have to be dense to believe anything Arnold says.
The whole t-shirt thing was made up for the documentary. They had brief footage of Katz looking for his shirt, at the contest in Pretoria. Afterwards, Waller was filmed saying he was going to steal Katz's shirt to mess with him. It was done just to add some "drama" to the film and to show Waller as one of the "heavies". In reality, Waller and Katz were good friends (Like most bodybuilders of that era, they competed hard onstage but were close friends offstage.) Waller said that people booed him after the documentary came out because they thought he was this jerk. (This is all on the DVD extras for the 25th anniversary DVD of "Pumping Iron".)

I'm happy to know Mike Katz is doing well today, I always thought he was underrated because his chest almost overshadowed Arnold's.
Met Mike many times………great guy with a huge chest but arms that looked very normal when relaxed…….was a struggle for him to get size to match his chest which of course is genetic….
Best genetics for symmetry with size on a frame I've ever seen was the little Egyptian Mohamed Makkawy who probably is lost in this conversation because of this small stature……….but at his peak he was the best I've seen genetically.

Mike Katz would have the largest rib cage in bodybuilding, Reg Park´s rib cage was impressive but Mikes looks even more impressive. One of my all time favourite bodybuilders.
