It seems like every actor in Hollywood is able to add 10, 20 or even 30 pounds of muscle with ease…just to play a new role. As we talked about last week, young Taylor Lautner, when confronted with the possibility of not being cast as the werewolf in the Twilight sequel, worked his butt off to add 30 pounds to his frame to not be denied.
Next up this week is Matt Damon. In order to be convincing as a South African rugby player, he built pounds of new muscle. His new physique has everybody talking. How did he do it?
Well, as only AthLEAN-X and celebrity fitness trainer Jeff Cavaliere can do, we’re going to break down
how you can get your body rugby “rugged”….or just plain jacked using a unique combination of high intensity conditioning and circuit based strength training to build more muscle fast. Just like the pros do!
When you’re done watching this, make sure to head over to and learn more about the workout system that you can do at home, that has the fitness industry buzzing, “The greatest new training program on the market today. Finally something real guys can do and follow easy that actually makes adding muscle fun!”

@SAMaOriAN111 I think so…that's what im gna be doing…but prob the ironman one…lol
MATT DAMON?? since when?? neglecting Tom Jane's The punisher, or scott adkins the undisputed 3 physique! come ON for GOD'S SAKE.
your a beast!
the thing is about rugby is that those guys are unbelievably strong.some of the forwards are just in incredible shape.not only stacked but the power and dynamic strength is off the chart.alot of rugby teams have introduced pilates into the work out because stability is such a huge factor in professional rugby.but out of the gym just on the training pitch the drills and contact work makes them almost superhuman.
@MrAsweqwe Some gay comments, like to see you fight this guy
Good vid. South African myself so I like the invictus title too. My cousin showed me a Russian military routine which has some similar techniques. As with this, you have to do the techniques to realise how strenuous some of them are. Intense work out that works the whole body.
Respond to this video… I also appreciate an American showing the respect to rugby that it deserves. Annoys me when they rip rugby without ever playing it before.
@TBPerkins lol, respond to this video… Don't know why that was posted.
while I disagree about this workout being what Matt damon used to put on muscle.. it was definitly a kickass workout
Lol, nice smith machine.
This workout is not just for fat loss. It does contain strength and stamina more especially with the push up situation pushing the treadmill.
What all these fellas don't understand is ripped muscle mass, does 'not' always mean strength. And muscle strength definitely does not equal body power/explosive power. If you look back through history, the most powerful men, have always had a healthy mixture of muscle covered by a ample amount of fat. Some blokes can workout for years, but if you do not have the genetic pre-disposition for natural bulk/muscle/power. They think, "If I put on a massive amount of muscle and then shred it to a….
….Ripped state, I'll will be a machine. Unstoppable!!!" But then they get knocked the fuck out and around the field, cause they don't have natural defences(Massively powerful jawline, head basically made of stone, chin made of granite, heavy dense bones and structure) So they have put all this, very pretty looking muscle on, but they're body isn't designed for it. Some cultures have a natural advantage: Samoan, Maori, Russian, German, Croatian etc…Plus look at Mike Tyson for example….
….Man only stands 5'10", but has a neck like a buffalo. He never really touch weights, in his 80's prime, but had a shit-tin more power than guys 6'3"- 6'5" and ripped. And yet as muscular as he was, he looked more like someone had just come along, stuck a bicycle pump in side and filled to 'popping point'. He naturally looked like that. Plus it's not all about the body. Sure it helps to have a decent one but if don't a have a hidden hyper-aggressive, snapping point…then move aside boy!!!
@SugarTomAppleRoger Boom-boom, spot on!!!
@boisintang
10 to 20 Ibs of muscle can be added with out steroids.
The secret that these actors have is that they have time and the best professional assistance to achieve this and plenty of money as well.
Average people do not have the time nor money to be able to do the type of research that is required to achieve this type of gains.
Athletes do it all the time as it is there job and they employ people like the guy in this video.
The internet has changed this.
@brycecoad1
This type of work out can be used to build muscle and improve vo2 max with out wasting muscle.
Other work outs can give better muscle growth but at the expense of conditioning this type of work out is a balance to that.
planet fitness???? lol
Ahhhhh very true my friend….I mean I'll admit I did try to get ripped once for that exact purpose. But rest assured, there are a multitude of hot chicks/glamours that like a big powerful, cuddly fella. A realistic provider, not a picture perfect male model.
how many times through?
I live in Scotland and play rugby. This workout is shit. Fitness work needs to be longer and include running and hitting not going on a treadmill for 30 seconds and definitely not 'cleans' with a med ball.Also this is sure as hell not a power workout.
Fullback just now, but played along most of the back line.
Fair enough but he should take out the bit saying it's what the pros do. It's also not the best way to condition for rugby. Original comment was a bit strong though.

I though you had quit the gym that episode Ross!
six pack won't attract as many chicks as a big arms,chest, back
I think this workout is more about LOOKING the part than it being about being able to PLAY the part. Know what I mean?
envidiosos los q piensan q inyectandote te inflas rapido, el chabon no esta muy grande y ya tiene como 4 años entrenando,esta bien para el tipo de cuerpo q tiene.
It depends. To a total noob this wo would also give some amount of muscle and strenght, even if it ain't aimed at that.
In my opinion, there are different methods to building muscle. There are several kinds of work outs that work better for all different kinds of people with different body types. Just persistently working out different parts of the body each time with good rests in the middle and taking days off for rest and recovery. Eating though! Eating is a big part of gaining and losing weight. Watching the foods your consuming and being disciplined and strong with your eating conditions is another big part.
Hi I'm from Australia could you do a rugby league workout
im sorry about my comment. but idont like the workout because its very dangerous. what is the point in workout if its dangerous? treadmill you are leaving it running at high speed and using a rubber band? it works for you but i weigh 300 lbs do you think people of my kind can handle it?
thats because they roid up
Back when potatoes was all Jeff had to record with.
Always brilliant. Crazy hard workouts but specifically geared for the sport/muscle groups. Lekker, baie dankie.
Just a constructive comment here, who ever is filming really needs to zoom out more so we can see the legs/feet positioning as well… Otherwise nothing to say but great vids and info!! thanks!!
I, too, would love to see a rugby workout – as opposed to a "look like an actor who looks like someone who plays rugby" workout. Still, it looks like a pretty good workout.
I'll have to give this workout a try sometime
I am doing this workout today 🙂
