Larry Pacifico aka Mr. Powerlifting was one of the first “famous” powerlifters from the early 1970’s.

Nick I love these crazy 4 minute vids that give a history lesson to pretty much everyone. Your content is great. Keep it up man!

"Nich"

54 world records? Lol what a twat! I know someone who sets 54 world records every friday. #BOOM #DingleberryNutrition
The 70s were all about who could swallow the most dbol… great era.
He squatted more than he dead lifted?
He was 1 of VERY FEW that totalled 10X his bodyweight!!!
Wait…
What about Pat Casey?!!!!
impressive lifts for sure…
Would you do videos on great Olympic weightlifters?
Take a look at Ernie Frantz…godfather of powerlifting….
I'm loving these strength and powerlifting videos mate. Learning so much. These old school powerlifters had good physiques too, kinda how I'd like to look. Cheers nick.
Great stuff Nick! I remember Larry well being from the Dayton, Ohio area. Watched him in Dayton at the 1979 IPF Championship along with Bill Kazmaier and many others. Frank and Christie Zane came to the event to watch. It was a thrill as a 15 year-old to see and meet Frank in little Dayton, Ohio.
Having competed in the era in New England LP was the man….thanks for the review
I wish drug free quads were more acceptable now, all I see are small quads in these old photos
Do hope in the future you cover one or more of the fantastic Olympic lifters such as Bill March ,Russell Knipp,Fred Lowe, and Phillip Grippaldi
Man you are a researcher plus a bodybuilder, your videos are great and I have learned a ton watching them….keep up the good work
I did some powerlifting back in the 70s and bought a squat suit from Larry. I actually spoke with him and he was a really nice guy.
I know Larry Pacifico and his son Jimmie. They are amazing!
Mike bridges 🐐. 14 world titles, hit 837 squat, 529 bench and 755 DL at 181!! All with no shirt, old ineffective squat suits and old tech wraps. Coan longer career in his prime and more weight class mobility, but Bridges 2105 total at the 1980(81?) Sr nationals was the second highest in history( at that point) in any weight class, and he was 181!
Do a video about Dennis Wright. AAU POWERLIFTER IPF CHAMP 804SQ 169BW. Coan referred to him as a squat God.
I go to Larrys Gym, he is very much involved and has helped me progress through all of my lifts more than i ever thought possible.
Steroids are a wonderful thing.
Boycott Levi's
THE MOLE
I lifted in several meets Larry was in, He was amazing!!
Love this Clip thank you. My Father Barry Branyan Sr. Was also up there!! Love u Dad. Lived in PA now lives in AZ. Also 71yrs. Was 2nd in the nation Masters Division in his 40s Drug free Power lifter.
Where are the photos Nick? I am disappointed.
I got photos this time, I do not know what went wrong the first time. I did not even know what powerlifting was until I read an article in Sports Illustrated about Larry Pacifico back in the 1970's. Good video.
Barry Branyan SR from PA
The greatest powerlifter of all time is Lamar Gant.
You just can’t really do
Never met Larry but I trained at Chaillet's Fitness in Temple Hills Maryland, I think Mark worked with Larry for a few years then he came back to MD and opened his own gym, Temple Hills.I had just started out in Powerlifting when I was in the ARMY so I had the privilege to workout under Mark and all the other State & World Champs there. Good video.
Nick , you had the original West Side in Culver City , Ca back then 👍🏻
Please do a video on the late great Olympic Lifter Frank Orant
I remember him always in Powerlifting USA mag in high school. I was a big fan. Always read his articles. Him and Hideaki Inaba from Japan. Inaba 132 lb class same as me. He benched 350. I thought I was bad ass as a junior in high school benching 285 at 132 smh. Drug free 1977.
Thanks Nick for this wonderful video !! 👍👍🙏🙏
Larry ,ed ,bill ,Lamar They were all like 5’4 dudes.
