I have a question about your breathing, why do you hold your breath in while squatting? I tried that and it's like my brain is gonna explode and lose strength. if I breath in and exhale while going up i have a lot more strength! your knees look like they're goina pretty forward on the front squats!

Omar, when squatting heavy should the focus still be to get as low as you comfortable can in the hole? I lose about 20% of weight when I go low rather than focusing on going to parallel or right below parallel. Is it counter productive to not squat as low as flexibly possible? Feedback would be great. Thanks.

"I don't want any kind of minor accident, injury…" Meanwhile the plate under your right foot starts to slip to the right lol..

Shouldn't you change your grip on the squat? There seems to be weight resting on your wrists/arms. Rippetoe has a great vid about squat grip.

Whats up with the bar hanging lower on both back and front squats? I know it is impossible to be absolutely symmetric but it seems you are right side dominant just like I am.

Are Calves worthless? I mean you squat tons of weight and have a great physique and seem to do just fine without them.

Omar you always give up depth when u start to go heavy :/ Brett Gibbs had a great video on this, he was missing depth at meets which you would as well and then he started going ATG and made great progress and fixed that issue.  Just a thought, I feel like eventually you will do the same as Brett but maybe not now?  Who knows, wish you the best!!

hey omar your making great progress keep it up!!, this may sound like b.s or unconventional but take off those olympic shoes and squat with flat shoes ,it has done wonders for me and upped my squat. squatting with olympic shoes is somewhat cheating and changes biomechanics , yes they are guys squatting 1000 pounds with them on but for some like me they get in the way. work on mobility ,take them off and see if it makes a difference.

My back is ALWAYS tight. Do you have a video on overcoming it? Sorry for my ignorance in not finding it if you do. I started deadlifting again. Do you think I'm cool?

Interesting form.
Your forward lean is pretty excess and your knees really pass your toes
When I go these things I always got some dude in the gym coming up and trying to correct my form… then I watch him as he half squats >_>

But really, Omar, can you do a video on your thoughts about people with long femurs and how it affects their squat and deadlift? This has been a huge issue for me for a long time now.

Question…..I have pain while squatting. It's only when I come back up though in my inner hips/pelvic area. Anybody have any ideas why this is?

@OmarIsuf when you perform front and back squat below parallel, do you have that knee cracking sounds?

there is no worst thing than going to the gym, giving your best to become stronger, and wake up the next day and sth is in serious pain. Wrist, knee, lower back, shoulder, elbow etc..Unfortunately, i have been injured multiple times, with the most serious problem being the kneecap. Ya it fucks up my whole life, but i am happy i can still walk…

I think you squat isn't strong because you have small calves. Small calves are important in squatting.
Squatting is the best calf growther because it stimulate the muscle like any other exercise.

What do you people think about ATG squats to build calves?

I mean, we all know that farmers walk and rack pulls and isometric contraction from the stretch at the traps makes them grow. Can that happen with calves at ATG squats. The knee has to travel a lot forward from the foot. That means a huge stretch on the soleus which is the one that makes the plantar flexion movement when the knee is bent.

I have 20 inch calves without training them. But my shoulders don't exist. Everything comes with a price 😂

Thumbs up for squating everyday man! I've started doing that three weeks ago and I can't wait to see where i'll be in three to six months.
