thank for the video.
I have seen many things about Thor's deadlift attempt! like many people out there, I think Thor will beat the 500kg (personally I would like it if he did it by more than 1kg)
BUT to set a world record in your own gym is wrong! does not matter what the sport is! it would be like a sprinter setting a world record on his own track! that's does not count he can say it is a personal best! NOT a World Record

why do big people always wear massive hoodies in the gym? whats the point in trying to get a real good body and then wear a big hoody all the time haha

I agree with eddie and brian shaw it isn't the same and there isn't as much pressure as a competition in front of a live crowd in front of all the other strongmen, I think haffthor will just have to end up pulling 501kg again at an event if he wants to get rid of any doubt.

i just wanna see the 501 lift

If Thor pulls 501 kg, it doesn't really matter if people think it's a legitimate world record or not, or if Eddie will admit that Thor lifted more – the fact will still be that Thor pulled 501 kg, everyone will know it, just the "official records" will still have Eddie with the WR with 500 kg. All this will amount to is basically Youtubers making videos a couple of years from now, stating "what a controversial decision it was to not legitimize Thor's pull". To quote Galileo Galilei: Eppur si muove (And yet it moves). Thor will lift 501 kg!

I think Brian and Robert explained it right. It’s not about the weight Thor lifts, it’s about the sport. Sure if Thor can lift 501kg that’s cool, but it’s just a PR. A basketball player can practice at home and sink every shot, but once on the court he may only make half. It’s the environment and competition that make it a sport. I think Thor should go along with the live stream, but count it as a PR unofficial record and he’ll next year he could attempt a heavier weight in competition knowing he’s capable of doing 501kg already at home. If they count this as an official record, I agree with Brian, you are opening Pandora’s box.

The back was ok especially in comparison to all the other competitors. Those arms need work mostly triceps

Big Z hit the nail on the head. If Hafthor can lift 501, great. It should be considered its own record leaving Eddie's intact. He should wait, honestly. He will receive so much positivity breaking this record in competition, but if he breaks it in his own gym he will be constantly receiving so much negativity. If he can lift it now, he can lift it in a few months (probably). He deserves to have all of the love and positivity that will come from breaking it in competition. He would be doing himself a disservice if he breaks it in his own gym. In everyone's mind there would always be an asterisk by his record if he doesn't do it right.

Thor is friggin awesome; however, official world records shouldn't be able to be set in ones private gym. Come on man, how is that supposed to be legit

Thor needs to break record in competition. Period.

I'm on the Halfthor's side…💪🏼💪🏼…. because it's about who can lift biggest weight… So in any case if he lift it it would be biggest lift weight in history…. I hope he can do it and show the whole world who is the strongest…💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

I believe Eddie Hall right, WR needs to done under same competition, same environment etc any less is no WR.

Thor has lifted 501kg before, that record wasn't counted due to the type of bar used and it wasn't using calibrated plates. This a similar type of situation. Eddie lifted 500kg in competition, yes he had prepared and people knew he was gunna attempt it but it was done to the standards of giants live and Eddie had no control over that. Thor is attempting the record in an environment he has control over and the situation is set up just for the record attempt. By all means Thor should be allowed to do the lift and it deserves serious credit but Eddie's record can't be discounted untill it's broken in the same situation as Eddie set it. If Bolt has broken a world record in training it wouldn't have been counted. If strongman is to continue to progress and become a more mainstream sporting event records must be completed in competition (for them to be formally recognised) just like any other major sport. Thor can break the record physically but I just don't think he will have the ability to willingly cause the damage to his body that Eddie did. Eddie was all about lifting 500kg, he wasn't trying to get back at anyone, the was no additional motive than tho be the man that could deadlift 500kg. For Thor this is about more than just the record, it's about who holds it and taking that record of him. If Thor is going to break the record in competition and take that record from Eddie he needs to get passed any issues with him and just go out to be the first man to lift 501kg not the man to take Eddie halls world record. If he gets in that mind set he may just lift more that 501kg.

Sorry it's so long. Also I remember watching world's strongest Man as a kid with my dad and it's just a great memory.
