I thought Eddie Hall had the deadlift record. What did Belkin's 921 lb. record pertain to?

Well probably the levels were low in the past :))….a 500 deadlift can be done by an asthmatic, with heart problems, blood problems……..While some 100% healthy people can't imagine doing that :D……But then Eddie Hall and Ray Williams, or other people have potential, and have greater access to drugs and stuff….. He is still a great guy for doing it raw…..

if you go to Google and type world record squats, you don't see this guys name you see people who squat more.

you can move more weight on your bench because your cns has taken a break and it ain't fried anymore.

my goal has been to power clean 315 and bench 225 for the longest. I smashed bench, got 235, going for 315 now. I've been doing calisthenics!!!! its puts on sooo much strength. get a set of gymastcs rings on amazon for 30 bucks, hang it from a tree and u can do pullups, crosses for shoulders, levers, if your trying to get strong, u should invest in rings. my buddy mike reps 315 easy on bench at 175.

What are you people talking about? Dr. Fred Hatfield, Ed Coan, and Kirk Karwoski all squatted 1,000 "raw" too

I think its easy to say that the standard has increased. And yes some of the lifters today are amongst the greatest of all time. But to put in perspective no one has come anywhere near ed coan really. Dude squatted 1000lbs @ 220lb bodyweight. Yes he was 'equipped' but the suits back then were just not comparable with modern equipment

I'm sure none of these things(like the 4 min mile) and all the other ones he mentioned have ANYTHING to do with medical advances, if you know what I'm sayin 😉

maybe science behind steroids just gets better… and if someone reaches that new level you can say like ok, i'll try to increase steroid intake and risk more, or whatever

Just because Usain Bolt can run the 100m in 9.58 seconds does NOT mean it's possible for others to run it the same or BETTER. This guy is giving false hope. Some guy is going to think he can bench press 500 pounds (when he can barely lift 300 pounds) and then find out real quick that he can't as the weights come crashing down on him.

Vel Mano October 21, 2016 - 4:18 am

Squatting 1000 plus pounds is not going to win you a street fight or in a fight inside a MMA cage. Impressive in terms of the weight being squatted but dude is fat. This is the sport for those guys who aren't 'athletic'.

Ben Kalman October 21, 2016 - 11:04 am

Training in Jeremy Hoornstra's new gym and seeing him repping 600 lbs regularly is really desensitizing me to seeing more weight on the bench, I definitely believe there is some merit to what you are saying about that!

MAGA MAN October 21, 2016 - 10:30 pm

I find it hard to believe that this guy can squat about 250 lbs more than he can deadlift. The squat looked easy and the deadlift looked like he could barely lift it.

No one is really natural anymore due to all the growth hormones and steroids in your food.

Yes I would say that people are getting stronger and world records are being beaten. But it comes at a cost. All I ever hear now is how people are constantly injured or hurt. No idea how many powerlifters I follow on Instagram or youtube, but majority of them are always on a rehab stint for 3-6months.

Negative Ghost Rider. 4 words; two people. Andrey Malanichev, twice, and recently at that. Visit the Animal pak page, and you'll see what I mean. And Derek Kendall, a few months ago.

Sorry, the competition breeds excellence point is nonsensical. At every point in athletic history competition has existed and often been fierce. What has actually changed is knowkedge, of nutrition, training methods, technology, etc. This lift was the result of general human progress applied to exceptional individual strength.
