I think we should clearly ban people from watching Dragonball Z before a workout.
/sarcasm 🙂

Scott can you do a video on what supplements you take and explain why?

Should a 15 year old take creatine? I know that you said 16 and 17 but that year or 2 is a massive difference. And if yes should loading be performed or just 5g a day?

Love your videos keep It up.

Thanks

Lol at the DBZ reference. I started watching your videos a few weeks ago after finally getting serious about adding weights to my workouts. Thanks so much for all you've shared so far, I felt more confident about having correct form as I've slowly eased into this.

So you cant take preworkout? Then i guess they could just use energydrinks to get past that so that makes it an even DUMBER rule than it already was. And ofcourse creatine should be allowed. Thats like saying you are not allowed to eat this and that. It must be changed or I will lose hope in humanity.

Hi Scott, You are the only youtuber i know, that may be able to answer me.  I dont like too much caffeine in my pre workout. And i just wanted to know how much caffeine per scope is in NO explode. I know its not on label, but you might know. Cheers.

You can't even buy pre workouts unless you're 18.. Unless you're not supposed to be able to. 15 and 16 year olds taking preworkouts is never a good thing. I can see why a preworkout would be banned then. But because of an unfair advantage? Lol

I think the ban means nothing, how are they going to possibly test whether someone takes a preworkout or not…

interesting hmm I've been off supplements for 7 years now and am still making progress maybe these kids just need to focus on the sport and not worry about supplementing just yet, have fun!, as for the school banning it they should be happy to see kids wanting to improve themselves and give them suggestions instead of banning.

totally agree with you on this.
every school and every parent should watch this video.
it really pisses me off when people don't do their research on supplements, and think they know everything.

I was the kid who went from benching 95 pounds junior year in highschool to 225 senior year (2 semesters). I was in 3 sports and 2 teams over the summers, and I ate equivalent of 4 balanced meals per day. I made sure to get lots of sleep. In relation to this video, I think a large part is getting enough sleep, be it in High School or College. No electronics in their rooms, minimum light, and a fan or gentle noise source, minimum 7 hours of sleep, 8-9 ideally.

My only counter is that most creatine and pre-workout supplements are labeled as intended for 18+ yoa, and I believe someone who weight-trains should build a solid foundation before adding supps to their routines.

It's ridiculous because it also helps in practice. It gives rough practices an edge

They aren't going to catch you taking it. I know tons of people on my football time that take it. Heck if I'm tired I would take it. I did once it's great.

Enforcing a creatine ban this at a high school level will depend entirely on the student and his or her parents.  This is a legal supplement that there is no test for.  If someone uses creatine they will only gain the benefit without being discovered.  So ultimately the kids who abide by the rules of the school will be left behind.  The ones who use creatine will tend to do better and will learn the lesson that rules are for fools.  Was that what they were trying to teach these kids?

This is ridiculous that they ban pre workouts, in my school people start weight train the moment you first sign up for football even in middle school we have to lift everyday after school for at least an hour everyday of the year except for weekends. We even start practice 3 months before everyone else. Trust me teens in my school would never get by without pre workouts

I was a division III football player and a lot of the people on my team took creatine and preworkout. Our strength and conditioning Coach was pro-creatine (although due to politics had to be subtle about it) but warned us that pre-workout supplements sometimes contained "extra ingredients" that weren't on the label.

I know bitter orange is common in pre-workouts and that is a banned supplement according to the NCAA, so he may have just been afraid of us being careless. But (like I said, D3) we were never drug tested in my four years on the team or to the best of my knowledge any time in the last decade.

My roommate (starting linebacker) used to take Craze before games and he later found out batches of it were tainted with illegal substances

https://www.bostonglobe.com/lifestyle/health-wellness/2013/10/13/craze-workout-booster-contains-banned-stimulant-harvard-study-finds/RdqaCrN6H2X5N6lk7192uJ/story.html

I know some MMA fighters have gotten suspended for taking tainted supps as well, so I guess my questions are thus:

-are the tainted supps in the ufc and elsewhere actually happening or is it just an excuse allowing them to get away with PEDs?
-how likely is it that pre-workout supplement contains what it says it does?
-if these events are common, and a label lies, what are the effects on health and competition?
-obviously most pre-workouts are legitimate, but how is a high school student supposed to know the good from the bad?

My high school banned protein shakes because anything that promotes recovery is a 'steroid'. I was stupid back then and when I researched this more I was furious. Next time I was back at my high school after a year of college, I told the AD to ban foam rollers because they help with recovery too. Long story short, he went red in the face after I used scientific data and he said that if these mass monster bodybuilders use these supplements then they are bad for you. Now I'm not allowed to help coach athletes at my former school because I say there is nothing wrong with supplements, especially creatine and pre workout. Even though creatine has been researched for five decades without terrible side effects like steroids.

High school Varsity coach was like a drug pusher in 96-97 season. He was the weight training coach. It was freaking insane seeing 140-160 players hanf clean 225-300lbs not power clean but hang clean. Players got faster… But it was the 96-97 season we went 13-1 in NC 4A lost the state. Championships…. There were at least 10-15 300 bench pressers on that team. Thats freaking crazy

Hypocrisy , you guys always say that creatine and supplements are only "boosters" and that you would get the same results but at the same time you bitch when this things become illegal, like when it happend in India . ancient greeks and romans had amazing physics , their statues and painting are prof of it and they didnt have artificial creatine on their time so how about you supplements fan boys go fuck yourselfs and admit once and for all that using creatine is cheating . i hate people who take loads of creatine and other supplements and still claim that they re natural , my gym was full of those pricks who after finishing training got freacking creatine and supplements and still claimed "im natural" if creatine isnt cheating then why are bitching when it gets banned ? One word: Hipocracy
