Pre-Workouts Can Kill You! – Nick’s Strength and Power

by YouTube Team

I recently came across a preworkout that had nearly 500mg of Caffeine PER SCOOP. I think this is a ridiculous and unhealthy amount of Caffeine.

A couple of weeks ago i bought a new pre-workout, and they recommended one that had 350MG of Caffeine per scoop and they told me to take 2 scoops before training. Me not knowing that much about nutrition or supplements thought it was a normal amount. Later that day i took 2 scoops, vomiting ensued for over one hour and i had heart palpitations the whole day.
Never taking Pre-Workout again!

Nick, please for the LOVE OF GOD, shut up because you do not know what you’re talking about, you have not read the literature, and you are just fearmongering in order to reap in views. The kid who died OBVIOUSLY had pre-existing heart problems, you can’t POSSIBLE be that naive to think he didn’t. STARBUCKS has a coffee that they sell that is above 400mg of caffeine. If you ever actually read the literature and studies on caffeine consumption, you would find the most recently meta-analysis found that 3-9mg/kg of body weight is a safe consumption level for a healthy individual IN A SINGLE DOSE. At 185 myself, that means I can take 750mg of caffeine in a single dose and be perfectly FINE. Not that this is recommended but 3-9mg/kg is found to be SAFE. Even if you split it down the middle at 6mg/kg at my body weight would be 480mg if caffeine in a serving. Even on the lower end at 5mg/kg that is over 400mg/kg. Please for the love of god, shut up, do some actual research, talk to leading experts in the field, and stop pushing this BS.

I don't think we should be giving drugs to kids.
I think caffeine should be illegal for those under 18.

I just drink my daily morning coffee then go to the gym. I have several kidney stones and passed one 2 years ago. Horrible pain. All due to taking 2 scoops of pre workout for 2 yrs

So, I take around 100-500mg of caffeine a dey on top of a high does of vyvanse (60mg) or ritalin (80mg). I haven;t *had an issues yet but **FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T TAKE NICK'S WARNING LIGHTLY.* I even have a family history of heart issues, I don't even work out, but I'm terrified of the day my doctors tell me I can't have stimulants anymore. Don't push your luck, please. It's very serious.

You should mention that what made jack3d so strong was not caffeine it was another stimulant

Alcohol can kill you cigarettes can kill you drugs can kill you steroids can kill you and pre workouts can kill you…. Being an idiot and taking something without reading the label ingredients and not actually being used to the stimulants can give you a bad time…. Be smart about what you take and how much you take know your limits at everything you do and if you are afraid in the first place… DON'T FUCKING TAKE IT it's that simple Jesus

Every time I watch a workout video, they always have to begin by having a little white scoop of whatever. Why? Who needs the stuff? Makes you train harder? BS.

You dont need pre workout if your body produces natural testosterone

Pretty sure he’s talking about Leatherfaze here .Usually my resting heart rate is 55bpm and after 1 set of incline that pre had my heart rate up to 135. Pretty freaky shit, he’s definitely not wrong here.

If I make it through the rest of the day (took pre-work the night before just before going to the gym and have a 12hr shift tonight and can't sleep before my shift starts) I'm never going to use a pre-work again. I'm 36 years old by the way

I switched to a caffeine free pre workout, I even have it after coffee n do cardio while I am on it too. Those caffeine ones made me feel anxious for the entire day when I was at work, especially if I had coffee

There are A lot of facts in this video! A lot of them i agree with! But the thing is that jack3D has DMAA in it, and that is a totally different story. If you want to know what DMAA is, look it up and you’ll know what i’m talking about.

thanks for this very helpful advice man 😊 I always thought it was my asthma, but I always felt a heavy fog feeling in my chest, cause what is just said about drinking too much energy drink in a short amount of time. i always felt dumbed down drinking a pack of 4 energy cans and always had a feeling of 'stoned' eyes. thanks Nick for making me have a real good think about even too much energy drinks, aswell as pre workouts. it looks like only caffeine hit is coffee on Saturdays and Sundays at 7eleven
