@Samdabikinman Not true at all, pull-downs are much more isolated with a lot more grip options while body weight pull-ups demand stability and include more muscled of the body. It's all subjective depending on your goal. Keep it up Scott!

Did you really need to make a video on how to SET UP for lat pulldown? You only need to use a little bit of momentum if the weight is more than your bodyweight.

Agreed it looks like a really useful trick. Another reason for the rarity is probably that a lot of people start shifting to pull ups once they surpass their bodyweight on the pulldown.
Can you do this with regular lat pulldown?

I have tried this exercise for years but it never worked because i never knew how to start the workout, BUT NOW I'm glad, cause I understand the tippy-toe jump&mount thing

The idea is to always have tension on the lats through the entire range of motion, so you can really stretch on the way up. A longer chain would prevent this action.

To the less mentally gifted people commenting on how this is unnecessary and stupid, please keep in mind that not all machines look the same. I have come across some machines where this is a problem, where the pads are too low. Haven't tried this trick though, always used a spotter to pull me down or used metal clips to extend the cable.

This makes no sense. Works your biceps more than your lats. Therefore less gains for targeted muscles.
That was not a front pulldown for the lats… it was cheat Reps for your biceps!
