Fuck this fake news story and the myths it propagates about heavy lifting.

Lift smart, lift heavy and lift often.

is that even possible to severe the spine like that without literally slicing it in half

Reply

i guess falling on the plates could have broke his spine but no way he broke it by deadlifting heavy

It's most likely that he passed out dude to the dizziness that deadlifts can cause when your training hard

It would be so weird to break your back deadlifting while still somehow picking the weight up and not dropping it WAY before.

The human body has evolved so that bones get stronger as muscles get stronger and lift heavier weights. Its almost impossible for the human body to snap one its own bones just using muscle power alone. There are exceptions in extreme weightlifting contests and arm wrestling but usually some form of unnatural twisting happened first.

I started lifting in 2011. Yes it was very niche these days. A lot harder to find good content. It s still not mainstream…hard things never get mainstream

A couple of things: 1) That isn't a real xray and fractures don't look like that. 2) More than likely what he suffered was a compression fracture. The supposed xray that is shown is a side view of the spine. The square part on the left side is the "body" of the vertebrea. In a compression fracture that square part will squish (for lack of a better word). While it's painful, it is not life threatening nor in most cases is there even a surgical option. Many people get them (compression fx) and don't even know it.

He blacked out. It happens sometimes. The valsalva maneuver causes an increase in bp for a few seconds. If he had broke his spine, let alone in HALF, the dude would have crumpled in a split second, not stood there wobbling.

The X-ray is fake. That clean of a shear through the different structures in the spine… maybe in a car accident or sword fight.

How could that x-ray possibly be real? Literally looks like somebody cut the bone and shifted it, and you can't see any other bones in the imaging…

The guy probably didn't have any water or could be on a dry fast we don't know anything else. No shit the deadlift is actually a very safe exercise and one of the safest period

One can avoid injuries such as this by rounding the shoulders forward and hitching the hips on big pulls.

04:25 – Advising to stop deadlifting in favor of bench pressing is pretty ridiciolous since bench press is actually the most dangerous lift an has, by far the highest injury-rate out of all the lifts. (omar knows what i am talking about ^^)

Small risk? What in the fuck. People say “Just lift smart” but in reality, you shouldn’t have to walk on egg shells doing a workout. The fact that deadlifting gave me a herniated disc and ruined my life, makes me so mad I gave this workout a chance, and listened to people like the guy in this video. What happens is people get good at deadlifting and they become very defensive about it. This workout is incredibly OVERRATED. I’ve ran all out and I HAVE injured myself, but nothing as serious as my deadlifting injury. Everyone knows, deadlifting is one of the most dangerous workouts you can do, because it’s a SPINAL injury.
