Popularity among fans is one thing, but prize money is pretty significant too. Phil Heath won 20x more money than Breon Ainsley at the Olympia this year. It's going to take some serious dough to attract the kind of numbers and talent that will make Classic Physique a dominant force in bodybuildling. Then again, maybe the money will follow the popularity…

"What the fuckk"
Where is bodybuilding going these days?
A bodybuilder should live long life but they are getting diseases and dieing at early stage.
Abs are very important part of bodybuilding but Bodybuilders stomach are like Nicky Minaj ass got abs on.

But then they should also ban these long pants from the classic shows

Classic physique is taking over man but the real question is how long until we see someone step on stage bloated because you know these guys are on gear they're just not on as much

It won't work. People still want to see freak shows, even if they subjectively don't like the look of it. It's the voyeuristic factor. The only way is to impose judging standards whereby a combination of size, proportion, and conditioning with a tight waist beats size and conditioning alone. That's it. It's that simple. Bulging guts with prolapsed belly buttons should be marked DOWN. Let them walk onstage, entertain the crowd, BUT NOT WIN. Leave them to ponder why they didn't win even though they had the biggest legs or freakiest back or whatever.

God I can’t believe Phil won in 2017 with that abdomen. Ramy got robbed purely on that basis. How can you have a mister Olympia with a visible hernia?!

Nick once again I am feeling everything that you are saying I said before that I am a bodybuilder and I think it should be classic Physique in different weight classes like it is in the NPC from lightweight all the way to 202 or whatever extra weight they are letting classic physique come in at

And like you said it would give those guys in incentive to get their s*** together because I'm tired of sending these Potbelly's and give bodybuilders a realistic goal and feel that they can compete and actually win

I think that people are too into the freaky stuff! Besides the freakish (steroidal) sizes of bodybuilding, everyone seems to want things to the extreme! We have extreme measures in movies- the grosser and more unbelievable the better! Singers being able to do things that no one could do in the past! People breaking size, speed, shape, endurance, points scored, smartest, etc….. Before you know it, people will be dying trying to get the most ripped ever, highest dives, etc…. There has always been that crazy, almost psychotic desire to exceed everyone else, break records, be the fastest person, etc…. We live in a sick world where people are fascinated by ultra extreme events, happenings, and acts! So- no! I really don't believe that people will turn away from the freaks of mass for the nicely in shape people! Classic bodybuilding may gain interest and popularity, but the freaks on the drugs- going to ultra extreme will probably never die off! We've come too far to turn back now! By the way, I lift and have competed, but have never – ever taken drugs (with the exception of caffeine).

Love the look of classic, but these guys physiques all look the same! Don't like the weight limits either.

Wishful thinking…it's pure economics, reversed what you proppose…the only way to get rid of the gut is it being marked down and punished by the judges, end of story

Wouldn't it make more sense to make an official change to the judging that would drop bubble guts substantially on their score card?
