I have never bought the, "bright stage lights make you look washed out" line.
It just sounds like people are repeating something they heard somewhere once, verbatim.
Between 2:31 and 2:45 you can clearly see more vascularity and definition in the untanned pic with normal room lighting than in the tanned pic with stage lighting.

I’m amazed that people don’t realize that Joe is just pointing out something that highly liberal people overlook when discussing blackface. He actually made jokes with mark normand about how bodybuilders stopped coloring their faces so as not to offend. He found the whole thing to be a strange cultural phenomenon. He also mentioned how ridiculous it is that people actually get mad over self tanning, and equate it to black face. He doesn’t actually give a fuck about tanning or the coloring the body, and I don’t think he even cares about black face itself. Y’all need to take things into full context.
