I was looking for a video like this, and yours is just great! I have a Master's in health, and have studied nutrition since my teens, when the Atkins diet was popular, then Southbeach, and now, Keto, which is morphing into intermittent fasting, and OMAD. I am 60, and also hypoglycemic, with low blood pressure and low thyroid. I tried all those eating plans in the last six months and then this week I just QUIT. I saw a video about making "EASY" homemade dog food, and it was NOT easy to include everything a dog requires, so I got to thinking, wow, how hard is it for me to get what I need? I only dropped 4 pounds. I feel lousy. Personally, I agree with Jillian Michaels even more now, because blueberries and oranges are not my enemy. OMAD or Intermittent fasting works by restricting caloric intake, doesn't it? I love your channel, and I'm basically going to follow all your routines. Thank you for your channel and all your hard work.

I would love if you did a high protein vegan/plant based review? Or more helpful comments about how to be healthy while doing plant based.

We did keto for a month, and not only did I only lose 4 pounds, it spiked my depression and now I am trying to get out of this. I do not recommend keto for people with mental illness.

It’s definitely not for everyone. I had a good experience with it, I enjoyed the food I was eating and I felt perfectly fine as far as keto flu or any energy problems. I wouldn’t try to force it onto anyone else but I know it works for some people.

I tried Keto as well, strictly for about 6 weeks and loosely for a few months. I did not like it either for the most part. I think it sets you up for binging because there is so much restriction, and I don't feel like it is a healthy way to eat, even though it does have benefits, especially for some issues and people. It does not seem sustainable though. Also, I totally agree about the constant focus on "what do I eat?" and "what do I have to not eat?" "This "xyz" is totally healthy but I can't eat it because it's not Keto!" I just hate that. I was on the yo-yo diet bandwagon for years too Katie. On the other hand, I did feel better after the first stretch, I lost weight, I lost bloat, I had more energy. But honestly I just didn't feel "right". My body felt off, and like it was constantly asking me for/needing something. I did learn that I need to eliminate or really limit grains and legumes because I do not do well with them. I feel so much better without them. Eating mostly lean organic/wild caught proteins (salmon at least 2-3 times a week), veggies, certain fruits in certain amounts, nuts, seeds, unsweetened almond milk yogurt, smoothies made with whole-food ingredients (no protein powders… I use hemp seed or flax seed and almond butter for protein)…this is how I feel best, which sounds very similar to Keto, but I don't eat all the butter and I don't eat fatty meats and cheeses and processed foods, and I don't eliminate carbs that are whole-food and healthy. One thing I see a lot of people who do Keto do is eat lots of cheese, bacon, beef, butter…all this stuff I don't feel is healthy. And a big healthy salad loaded with my beautiful greens is a daily staple. And I put my raw organic pumpkin seeds on it which are another essential for me. I also learned that intermittent fasting is totally for me. We eat a late dinner, usually by 8 or 9pm, and I don't eat again until the following afternoon, except for the MCT oil and unsweetened cashew milk in my coffee in the morning, and I have now started adding the collagen peptides sometimes, but I am not sure how I feel about that because it doesn't feel like fasting anymore with the collagen proteins. So I have been trying to use them only when my body is really asking for something to get through the morning. I know they are good for me but they don't dissolve well in cold liquid and I only do one cup of coffee per day, in the morning. Depending on how my body feels, I eat my first meal anywhere from noon – 4 pm, most typically around 2 pm. My body feels much better this way. But I eat sweet potatoes Ryan! They are so healthy! I don't limit veggies based on carbs at all. (Except the white potatoes, carrots, and corn and peas). I eat most fruits, but the higher-carb higher-sugar ones more in moderation/as treats. And man are they yummy treats! When you are eating clean and cutting out sugar, your palate and perspective changes and those fruits taste decadent and like such a wonderful indulgence, and yet you are still eating healthy! Berries are daily however. Anyway, I really agree with your assessment here. And I have Hashimoto's Katie, so I am all in that with you and the thyroid struggle! And I have recently discovered you guys and I love you! So inspirational and adorable. Thank you. Sorry for the long comment lol. <3

I don't use the keto diet, but this seems like an unusual way to do it. It's like you tried to find the most difficult way to be in ketosis. I don't really understand all those pills and bombs and chia they're taking. There's no need to be so extreme. Just count your carbs or buy low carb bread, keto friend veggies, and full fat dairy. Not rocket science.

I’ve been doing Keto and IF for over 3 months now and have dropped 32lbs. I don’t find it difficult at all. I have no cravings for anything bad, but for me it took way longer than 2 weeks. More like 2 months. I have never cheated once. I follow Dr. Berg and he’s a genius at teaching you how to do Keto properly. I don’t ever wanna go back to eating a high carb diet, just thinking about it makes me sick. My body craves vegetables now. I love it! But everyone is different and glad you tried it, but sorry it didn’t work for you.

You are going crazy with the supplements.. not necessary. Cook whole foods. Keep carbs low. That's keto.

I skipped through this a bit just because I’ve consumed too much keto content over the last week and a half but the evaluation at the end was really honest and well thought out. Thank you! I’m a week and a half into strict keto but will ease up after two weeks. I think two weeks or maybe a month for someone with no real dieting history, nutrition knowledge or anything like that, it’s great. You learn so much. Yes it’s strict but if you’re committed you hunt for answers to questions you’d never think of asking usually. I like it for now but I’m glad I only committed myself to two weeks.

For me, just cutting ADDED SUGAR is doing wonders. Whole foods is where it's at! Give me all the fruit and all the potatoes! Also not drinking calories (unless it's a smoothie/protein shake) is helping immensely.

Keto helped me lose a lot of weight. I tried a low carb diet and it didn't bring me down to what I wanted. I did Keto for over 5 weeks and I lost over 40 pounds 🙂 now back to healthy low carb eating because I wanted to get back into toning and working out.

I take some stuff from Keto like STOP eating garbage Sugar as in white bread 🥖, Twizzlers, Snickers , Double layered chocolate 🍫 cake 🎂, Twinkies , Donuts 🍩 ETC.
Eat a lot of greens 🥬, & the amount of protein needed for my body weight.
I eat healthy carbs especially on my workout days & I have lost 15-pds in 3 months. I do Fast daily ‘ break my fast with protein & healthy fats & I am seeing BIG changes in my body. Take the good from Keto & tweak stuff here & there.

“KETO FLU”

Is mostly an electrolyte imbalance/shift (mostly sodium & potassium) as your body moves from being primarily a glucose burner vs a fat burner for your fuel.

It also takes more water in the chemical reaction to break down fat for fuel into ketone bodies vs carbohydrates…so you need to drink more water, which can worsen the electrolyte balance!!! SO I personally love Dr. Berg’s electrolyte supplement b/c it has sodium, so much potassium and no sugar (I got some for my Mom b/c it totally helped her leg cramps at night)…overall, MOST people don’t get enough potassium daily.

I’m not pro or against keto…just from a medical and biochemical background 😉 I have never felt good doing strict keto while also working out hard…I know there are triathletes that follow a keto diet, but that is a PROCESS and everyone’s body can’t adapt to that.

Also, you guys are already VERY healthy and probably move easily between burning glucose and fat for fuel (high level of metabolic flexibility, which is what we all want 👌👌👌). Going from the standard American diet (SAD lol) to a strict keto diet will be a harder transition.

Great video guys!!! 😁
