Naughty Congress. Nobody should put GMO foods in their bodies….this bill runs very deep, much further than personal choice. Glyphosphaste pesticides used widely in GMO farming are killing bees all over the planet. No bees no naturally produced food.

Gluten intolerant? It's not the gluten it's the toxins in the food that you react to. Eat organic and stay away from this stuff as much as pos.

This is my stance, I don't trust anything a pesticide company claims as safe. I'm imploring people to go back to the old way but growing their own food to the best of your ability, we have a right to chose and not be coerced by corporate propaganda of any sort to increase profit!

Transparency in foods is fine, but there is so much misinformation about GMOs that it is widely misunderstood. They are not evil. They are not unhealthy. This reminds me of the anti-vaccine movement.
There are lots of things that we can do to be more transparent in food labelling, but we have to follow the science, not just the whims of the uneducated. If we are going to go down that path, there is no end to the ridiculousness that would follow.

As someone who is opposed to GMOs, I'm kind of happy with this compromise… But it should not require people to have an online-connected or electronic device. If it does, there should be an in-store scanner available to those who don't have one with them.

Everything should be labelled so the consumer is well informed about the product they're buying and which they'll put into their own body. So it's definitely a good move going forward (my opinion).

I'm upset about the GMO misinformation. The non-GMO movement started because someone thought changing our food's DNA would change they're own. Nothing can do that. Now everyone I talk to that is against them doesn't even seem to know why. They see/hear GMO and automatically think it's bad. Which is why this bill is unfortunate. If people see it they'll run from perfectly good food.

I liked your comic routine about being a robot and trying to read the special code in the grocery store if you don't have a smartphone. You are right, it is not much better to have to stop and look up every single item if you do have one and can get online before you put it into your cart As for myself, I prefer foods that have a label stating that they are members of the non-GMO project, which means it is certified and I can trust it (I hope) and otherwise I try to avoid questionable foods, but I try not to be a fanatic about it or any other health trend. It will be interesting to see what Congress ends up deciding. I wonder how many of them actually go into the grocery store themselves?

I used to work for North Americas largest distributor of whole & organic foods and have endeavors to eat better by buying smarter for several years. My wife and I disagree on the food we buy but in the end, this labeling bill might make it easier for me to purchase good for me foods but I use other apps and do my own research — which can often be very confusing in its own right (case in point is coffee & caffeine; how many studies and counter studies in it in the last decade?!) — which is why I look to professional thought wellness leaders like you guys! 👍🏾😄

@BJC. Are you educated? Really?
As far as 'following science' is concerned do some proper homework. Vaccines and GMOs run hand in hand…massive profit for multi-billion corporations that would see the entire Eco system on this planet turned upside down, let alone the physical affect that it has on consumers.
Make a little pie chart when you have time. You might notice a scientific and factual increase in cancer, autism and numerous other money spinners since this crap has been fed to people.
This is why they don't want you to know….because most people are starting to wake up. Try it!

VETO THE DARK ACT (S.764) https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/veto-dark-act-s764
On July 7, the Senate passed a bill to label genetically modified foods allowing companies to use QR codes instead of words on the package. It discriminates against low income families, minorities, mothers, seniors, the disabled & those without smartphones.

In 2007 President Obama said, “We’ll let folks know whether their food has been genetically modified because Americans should know what they’re buying.”

ALL Americans should know what they're buying, not just the privileged.

Only 21% of Americans surveyed have scanned QR codes; QR code software must be downloaded. Just 27% of seniors & 50% of low income Americans own smartphones. 42% of Blacks & 36% of Latinos have had to let their smartphone service lapse. President Obama: Stand up for ALL Americans. Veto this discriminatory bill. ccd
