“I felt like a Super Hero, I could do things that other people could’t do” – Dave Durante
Dave Durante is a multiple time USA gymnastics national champion and was part of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Team as alternate. After retiring from competition, David helped coach his alma mater, Stanford University, to an NCAA Team Title in 2009 and has continued to be a part of the sport through his position on the Athlete Advisory Committee with the United States Olympic Committee as well as his position on the USA Gymnastics Men’s Technical Committee. Dave was a lead coach with the CrossFit Gymnastics L1 course from 2013-2015. He also wrote and developed the CrossFit Gymnastics Advanced Course. Dave is co-owner of Power Monkey Fitness and Power Monkey Camp.
We talk about how gymnasts train, how they incorporate weight training, how he wish he would have trained, his competitive diet, and his worst injuries. Enjoy

This is absolutely epic – thanks so much for sharing this 😍
Can you Tell us the name of that hardest move or of the Japanese gymnasts so I can find it
I started with calisthenics, but trained gymnastics after realizing how much more challenging and fun it is
Yoo, cool. But we can't see his whole face when communicating
Thanks for having me on. Hope there is some helpful information for everyone. Stay safe!
😃👍💯👑👏👋👌
Is it enough just to practice without manage your diet?
What a great guy Dave is!
So humble, knowledgeable, honest and always great at explaining things.
Would love to train with him someday.
Great podcast Ed!
Best!!!
Hey ED do you still train these days ? could you do some more videos of your own calisthenics routines or you tired of that stuff ?
Danny Kavadlo on next podcast?
Vegan for the Gold.
15:50 is one of the reasons I no longer train gymnast strength that much as there is an imbalance in training due to it being a sport and not a health system
Mad content. Really grateful man.
Awesome interview
