it will build muscle on your legs until your body gets used to your body being the weight…just up the weight with 2 dumbbells in your hands 😉

ScottHermanFitness August 11, 2012 - 6:25 pm

then from there, you can go to a barbell too! We got those videos in cue too 🙂

Well, they will grow, but there will be a point where you will want to start using some weight to ensure you are sticking around 10-12 reps and fatiguing. You can always mess with the TEMPO of an exercise to help with this 🙂

well, if you feel the weight dropping on your knee, you are doing it wrong my friend. Please watch the form carefully.

Also, that sounds a bit ridiculous. Should we never jump in the air again? See what I mean? 🙂

Lol… I never did pay much attention to the monkey, until I just realised that he is missing a nose!!! (music: da da daa anggg!!)

Anyways, I was hoping to workout without any use of weights. What exercises should I train? I know pull ups, dips, abs crunches, squats and push ups are good with a little mix of running and skipping ropes.

This has always been a great way to warm-up before I add weight and I walk the gym floor. 4 sets of 12. Squats, leg press, lunges, leg ext, leg curls. It's a great work out.

Reply

I'm sure Scott can address this question with several good exercies to add to your workouts. I can offer my own advice because I have a desk job as well, and it does create problems with lower body muscle retentions. I started using a yoga ball instead of a chair for 2 hour breaks and by switching back and forth between a chair and a ball, I have noticed a lot less leg pain or cramping from a sitting position.. Hopefully Scott will appreciate another Hermanite offering advice and not be upset.

If you do it right you'll be ok. I had an osteoscope done on my left knee earlier in the summer. My physical therapist told me to do this to help rehab my knee.

Great video. Short sweet and to the point. But on your back leg, i was told to try to keep it at 90 degrees and have my knee touch the floor, meaning a smaller step. And i was using about 25 pounds in each hand to add weight. And of course EXPLODE up in a CONTROLLED fashion like you did. I was aiming for a vertical increase for basketball. Is this method alright.

Thanks for your time Scott and a response is very much appreciated 🙂

Hi Scott!

Due to a back injury I had to take a surgery two years ago. Because of the surgery I also got very thin and thats where my problem is now. My right hip bone (if you know what I mean) is sticking out more than the left one. Do you got any good exercises to build up my stomach and make my body kinda normal? More reps or sets on the right hip maybe?

Thanks!

– Nath

How does this guy have so many subscribers ? He has an average physique and average lifts, but for the time he has been working out they are a joke. The only gains he has made since his first video are 5% bodyfat.

Scott – is it ok ti first get to the lunge stance (one leg front and the other back) and then press down into the lunge? I find, for whatever reason, that I'm unable to go directly into the lunge final position from standing, esp. in the reverse lunge. By going into feet-forward-backward stance, I find I'm able to do the lunge with proper form. Can you pls clarify?
