So a twist at the knee is perfectly fine? i doubt it, and everytime i accidentally did it myself i had knee pains, do w/e u want tho

No; the knee may be a simple hinge joint but the hip and ankle are not. The hip extensors and adductors can bring the femurs in or out without causing knee valgus or varus. Furthermore resting the bar in the bottom of the palm can cause elbow flaring.

Rippetoe's squat form doesn't account for individual differences in physiology which effect leverage points; and apparently he believes torso lean is a non issue, and that one's core should be able to sustain unlimited amounts of weight. Rippetoe also teaches hip drive completely wrong.

whats your bw and last 1RM squat?

Ah yes, I assume this is meant to provide the basis for an argument from authority. However I will indulge you. MY bodyweight right now is 238 but I will be competing at 220 in October, my biggest competition squat is 585 in knee wraps, 545 in the 100% RAW federation (no knee wraps, USAPL strict depth judging). Furthermore NONE of the big squatters actually use Rippetoe's squat form, for the reasons I mentioned previously.

I don't know anything about fitness, but from jsut from a layman's view, this squat looks wrong. After watching other youtube videos, i'd say this guy looks the most uncomfortable.

Hey there, have you heard about "MUSCLEADER (look on Google)? On their website you will find a great free video demonstrating the right way to build up notable muscle mass easily whilst burning fat as well. Kev or many other guys like him experienced good success using this system. I hope it will help you as well…

That simply isn't the case; some people require more or less external hip rotation to properly activate the glutes and abductors. This is why you will see some wide stance squatters have toes close to straight forward, and others (like Stan Efferding) toe out well past 30 degrees. The same thing goes for close stance squatters; guys like Jesses Norris toe out hardly at all, whereas lifters like Konstantin Pozdeev toe out far past 30 degrees. The same thing goes for guys who squat ATG like myself

Remove this video. Some beginners will follow the advice and end up at the hospital.

you should remind people that to begin squat or deadlift it is vital to be followed by a real coach to not fuck up your back

this is really bad advice, you should not be teaching people to squat when you have no idea how yourself.

Knees caving in on one plate either side? Knees not going past the toes? This guy knows nothing.

i was going to trash your technique, but everyone else hit all the major points for me. shame on you for even posting that abortion you call a squat. if you are a licensed trainer and this is how you show your clients how to squat my god have mercy on your soul because there is surely a special place in hell for people that teach other people to squat that way. shame on you sur.

Not good what so ever Unlink most of your videos man.
first you can't squat if you have issues with your knees, and if you have weak leg and back.
even the Heels can make a good SQUAT or not.

Thnx BTW for all these great videos.

You've explained it just like one of the coaches from my gym,but whenever I don't put my butt too low,it just won't put enough pressure on my quadriceps in order to grow further…

Hi Scott, Ive been doing sqauts for about 6 months and I am experiencing minor hip pain. I have been putting 2.5lb weight plates under my feet to see if that would help. Any ideas as to how I can strengthen my hips or stretch them properly before the squat? Thank you!

This is how I squat. Most people I see are straight toed, close stance, and squat way deeper. I’ve just always found that method to be uncomfortable
