Are you ready to get in shape this year? Do the words “Happy New Year” spark that motivation you have been lacking to get you fired up to finally start reaching your goals? If so, then we have to talk. This mindset is not going to be conducive to long term success for one very big reason. That is, it is driven by external motivation and factors that tend to have a short lifespan.

Think about it. Everyone will be making resolutions to get in shape on January first because it is a good starting point, a new fresh start if you will. What happens when the calendar turns to February however? Are you still going to be thinking about January first? Probably not. It was too much of a temporary external motivator to get you excited for the entire year.

That is where internal motivators have to be identified if you ever want to achieve your physique goals this year and any year for that matter. You have to look within to the reasons why you want to achieve your identified goals to really get to the heart of what needs to be in place to keep you motivated. For instance, lets say that you want to lose your belly and get in shape fast. You ask yourself why and determine it is because you feel you have not only become unattractive (to yourself and others) but dangerously unhealthy.

This is important because suddenly your health isn’t just about you anymore. It is about those around you and the impact that your bad health could have on them if at some point you weren’t here anymore. Think about your kids and your family if you have one. What would happen if your reluctance to keep yourself fit led to an early death. Would they miss you? Would you miss all the things you should have been around to see had you kept your end of the bargain and done what you said you were going to do multiple times, yet never did.

I’m not trying to scare you. I am trying to get you to look inside however and face the reasons for your inconsistency. We all want better for ourselves. We may even take steps to get in shape. The problem is, these are the easy things. These are the things like getting your new pair of sneakers and getting the new set of gym clothes. You may even find the time to put them on. Did you find the time to actually wear them to the gym and then do a full workout in them? Even then, did you get the motivation to string together a year of wearing them to the gym?

Stop relying on external motivations and look to the reasons for what it is you want to achieve and you will find, perhaps for the first time ever, that reaching your goals is easier than ever before. Happy New Year from me to you and your entire family. I wish you nothing but the best of health and happiness in 2017. I’m looking forward to you getting locked in, fired up, and in the best shape of your life starting from the minute this video ends.

You never disappointed me, on the contrary. Im working my core, cause I saw a lot of your video's And if this is strong, from there you can build the rest even more easy. Thanks, I keep watching those video's over And over. Still I must admit its hard. I have still belly, not crazy cause with the intsenity i feel its skimming, still I would like to know, with a belly its sometimes harder to do, And for example your 6-7 minute abs workout, I do them, but they hard, I see you already in some pain, but I try to keep up, but I might look silly sometimes cause its very hard for me , And when it comes to the rounding the shoulders on the ground Im done totaly empty. Im not doing them for so long so Im holding on. My lifestyle is better, I feel better, And I feel, the core And my posture change, And I like to eat like I eat, I see it as a challenge to fuel my body from day to day, listening to what it needs. And resting when I feel my body is empty, cause 6 times a week for someone whos, out of form sometimes can be challenging. And sometimes when I feel like that, I Eat Some brown pasta with tuna in olive oil And Some broccoli. Still finding my way in all those excersises And combinations thats difficult, And I know ofc I Should get the programm to so all of this, combine, And I will in the near future. But for now Im watching one movie after another Here on YouTube. It made a greAt change. In posture, make chest bigger, stretch this And that. Knee pain exercises. In one you called the 4 exactly the 4 excersises I hate to do, And still. Squats, bench pressing, deadlifts and another i forgot now. But your Kettelbal variation on the Squad already put me further, including squeezing the glutes everyrep. Further your cable excersice for legs, where you walk in front And back., is a big saver for me, really feel it. So yeah Im thankful for every tip. Oh yeah, Im just still sometimes wrong on the weights I take for example the lateral raises cheat, I kinda overdo it, I couldnt pass 4 reps, eventhough im not counting reps, 4 was easy to count. But i did it 1 more time, but choose a bit Lighter, I had Some pains, what was in between goood muscle pain And Some discomfort of the attachtments. But any way if you feel like you could make a video over one of these issues I mentioned above i would be very happy. Ty. For me its now new year, And tomorrow again Ty alot that you do this man.

I've been lifting for 6 years now. I've had my ups and downs and I made the mistake of taking weight gainers and ended up fat. And I stayed fat. Sure, my shoulders and traps look great in a shirt and my chest sticks out further than my stomach and I am a strong son of a bitch… but the shirt comes off and my self-induced gyno, love handles and stretch marks are revealed. I watched an Athlean X video here and there in the past but a few weeks ago, something sparked in me. I was tired of working my ass off in the gym to get nowhere with my physique. These videos have helped me immensely in just a short time. I watch one every day before the gym to give me that kick in the ass I need both from Jeff's no bullshit approach and his proof-is-in-the-pudding physique. Muscles I couldn't get to respond are sore and responding now. I'm training like an athlete and feeling great. Subbed and spreading the word.

Dear Jeff. Hi! Greetings from the Philippines! I am your new subscriber and have been following and viewing your videos for 3 weeks now. I am impressed with the scientific approach you give to exercise and muscle builiding. I am 49 years old and have recently started to work out again. I am close to going 2 months now. I used to go to the gym regularly, 8 years ago, but stopped and just managed my weight through diet and occasional running. But this time I am dead set in getting the physique I desire, even at 49. I see value in short intense work outs of 45 min. to 1 hour; 3 to 4 times a week. But how do I fit in hitting the body parts with the necessary level of intensity. If I focus on 45 min. to 1 hour; for a 3 days split of Chest/Back, Shoulder/arms, Legs…I cannot do the sufficient number of sets for hypertrophy. Like today; shoulder and arms; I did 3 exercises for shoulders, but only did 1 each for bicep and triceps. What do you recommend Sir? I want to send you an email but cannot see it here. Thanks! (I am interested in your tutorial, but cannot afford it. I am trying to learn a lot from your videos; losing flab on chest, getting more gains, etc.)

I'm just gonna say it: New Year's Eve/Day is a fucking dumbass holiday. It's completely arbitrary. Your life changes when you make it change.

Well, new years resolutions very seldom work; I'm therefore damn happy I started working out in October last year (yes, still a newbie), and have kept going for pretty much 5-6 days a week if I could, last week excluded because I came down with the cold from hell. This has I think made it easier to stick to the training – it wasn't hung up on anything else but 'my fat must be superglued to my body, guess some training might resolve that' and so far, it has given some results.

Oh, and another thing: the PT I got myself recommended the channel, and I have taken Jeff's advice and training to heart and is actually following a few exercises – and have him in my head while lifting… it's like having another PT telling me what I'm doing wrong.

This video was published 5 years ago and it’s still true to this day! So many people are always saying that they are going to do a New Year’s resolution but by January 8th it doesn’t mean anything. I remember the first week of every New Year’s the gym with go from standard too overly crowded with new people and by the 15th they’re all gone like they were never here. For me in the same year this video was uploaded I did my “New Year’s resolution“ in the middle of June because I was sick of the same thing and decided it’s time to make changes and did. The things I said I was going to do I did nonstop every single day. For example I wake up at 8 AM drive down to the convenient store get an energy drink come back home jam on the guitar for an hour and then by 10:30 AM regardless I stop what I am doing and go to the gym for 45 minutes and then I get ready and have a meal before I started my job at 1-9 then go home wake up repeat. I did it rely on lane ass praises to motivate myself.
