Should I try to bench 370lb?
a) Yes
b) No
c) Train your calves
Dat synced bench press at 1:51, check the guy in the back haha
AMRAP = As Many Reps As Possible, for those confused like I was.
Omar is right about tracking your progress. Being analytical. But very few people are willing to put that kind of brain work into their training.
Something is odd. If you can bench press 365 once you should be able to hit 325 pounds atleast 4 times, and 290 pounds 12 times. A lot of powerlifters avoid going to failure on lighter sets where they only go to failure or close to failure in the 1-4 rep range. Unless you completely avoid failure and you could possibly go much heavier. 80% of your 1 rep max you should be able to hit the 8-12 rep range. If you're hitting 8-12 reps in the 60% range you won't get hypertrophy. Powerlifters a lot of the time will avoid 80% to failure because hypertrophy increases their bodyweight which interferes with lifting amount to bodyweight ratio in competitions.
Even though many of them say they don't go to failure, bodybuilders go to near failure with sets of the 80% range. 80% to failure works type IIA muscle fibers that are 80% of muscular size/weight, 100% to failure works type IIB muscle fibers that are 20% of muscle size/weight, and 40% works slow twitch muscle fibers for joint health, endurance, and elasticity. Even if you don't develop the IIAs, you still should hit 325 pounds atleast 4 times in a set. Unless you have an injury that interferes with that. Some powerlifters even if they avoid failure will go close to failure.
I'm right for sure on 80%, but I think you can hit 4 rep max at 93/94%/95%. At 365 100%, that is 340/345 you can hit 4 times to failure in a set. Some guys are strict on that and have no problems, other guys avoid it because they're afraid of injury and stressing out their central nervous system. The strict guys are good at higher max workloads without stressing out the central nervous system but that could also have to do with quality of diet, warm up, cardio, and post workout stretching. Post workout stretching can have body movement work that's always an injury preventer for lifting.
Maybe the smaller person is just stronger, big doesn't necessarily mean strong….GNC can make you look bigger
You make me feel weak at 255 my max is 375 🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️
#400 go son!!
Your arms aren't small you just have bad arms genetics.
#370lbsdonkeycalfraises
RPE 7.58….That's very specific 🙂
You are strong 🏁
Most people lie about their arm size. 16 and a 1/2 in is a good size arm.
Omar do you ever feel the need for wrist wraps? I can't bench more than 205 without them because my girly little wrists hurt
my dick is erect
I have small arms :'(
Is it not putting ur ass on the bench?
You said you have 16.25” arms…how tall are you? My arm size is basically the same but I doubt I could bench 300 but it’s always been weak for me. My calves are a nice size though so I’ve got that going for me I guess.
Is it just me or is he not completely locking out hit press?
Omar real talk. How do I break past 250? I feel like I'm stuck. I feel like people who can bench 300+ have this secret I don't have 🙁
you know what else is small?
I really hate those racks. “Pressing” out of the rack is bad technique, and that’s all it allows. You can’t properly use your lats to unrack the barbell to get set up correctly with that type of rack. It just reinforces terrible technique repetitively. Awful invention.
Your arms aren't small for your height
Not exactly small.
Your bench will go down if you start working your arms a lot more..
Very impressive bro im 240 and struggling to hit 295. My goal is to eventually hit 315 for a single and id be happy.
Did you ever get 370?
if you ate some food you could bench a lot more…
Only if Gyms are equipped properly, most comercial gyms do not have adjustable racks
Omar do you think anyone can bench 315?
Or a more interesting question, do you think anyone can bench x2 body weight?
Wait I STILL DONT KNOW HOW THE FUCK Ufpwrlifter IS BENCHING 405 AT 154LBS
I got 315 for 2 reps with 15.25 arms lol… I'm 177 bw. I really don't look the part lol
The camel called . He wants his toe back 😂😂😭
Now I feel like shit benching 345 at 240lbs lol.
Dam bro impressive. I think Im like 30 lbs more than u an i can even hit 315 for 1, even tho that has been my bench goal for years. I want to start all over but when uve been lifting fir a while and ur able to lift a certain amout of weight its hard to start over. What do u suggest for someone like me who trying to bench 315.
This lil 5"4 asian dude just hit 315 for 6 reps and only struggled on the last rep dude probably weighs like 140-155 max. Smh and he had a workout buddy who was smaller who was also hitting 315.
Strong dude, especially for his weight.
Do you think sticking with a certain weight or % of ur 1rm for a while is a good idea to help ur get stronger or should I try and add weight/reps every training session
Yo man where are you placing your fingers on the gnarling?
Go bro Go!
Backwater by The Meat Puppets in the background, sweet.
Your arms ain’t that small
Good stuff man!
I dont agree with the 2x body weight or 1.5 body weight standards because if i can lift 315 i can lift 315 im 6’6 270and i bench 265 so far im leaning down to 250 so for me to have to bench 500 is fuckin ridiculous
Smarf arms
