Gate Pose (Parighasana) – Foundations of Yoga – Yoga With Adriene

by YouTube Team

Learn Gate Pose or Parighasana as our Foundations of Yoga series continues. This pose is a great check in with the center or the core! It lengthens the side body, stretches the legs and is wonderful for a strong and healthy back body. Use your breath to grow the pose and watch it unfold. Smile and enjoy!

I find that it is difficult for me to press into the outer edge of the foot on this one. Do you have any tips for that? Thanks Adriene for all your wonderful videos!

I just did the Wind Relieving Pose, Warrior 3 and Gate Pose. They were all amazing. Three weeks left and then I've finished the whole 'Foundations' playlist and can start doing the beginners yoga sequences. Thank you so much +yogawithadriene

You could just be smearing sun cream 😉 just saying! Will try this later as I have torn my Quadratus Lomborum and ligaments connecting my lumbar spine on the left… in recovery now but very stiff. Just trying to find gentle exercises to target my back from different angles… like the look of the little hover, need to regain some core strength 🙂

I have never worked as hard in any yoga class as I am now, working my way through the foundations of yoga series. It just shows how important it is to take the time to make sure that poses are done properly and all the necessary muscles are engaged. Wow! It is hard work. My body is soooo tight. Thank you Adriene for your gift to us!

Something I think would be popular would be a yoga/sanskrit vocabulary episode
Plus it would give you a chance to flex those theatrical muscles with like a language arts teacher persona

Be me, a man, joyfully commando in my sweats (home practice am I right?), listening intently to your every word, forgetting I'm not a woman. "..and we're gonna give our inner thigh a little slap!", she says. Swiftly slap myself, but catch the dangly bits and my high pitch scream gives the cat a heart attack. Guess I still need to work on my body awareness a little hahaha
