There is a lot of misinformation about sumo deadlifts. Yes, they do decrease the range of motion, but that is part of what powerlifting is about. Powerlifting is about lifting as much weight as possible in the big 3. You do this by maximizing your technique to your own greatest potential efficency.

For example, in the bench press, lifters can create huge arches in their back and press the bar down onto their stomach/right underneath the chest. Lifters also take a wide grip, which reduces ROM. Is the cheating? No. Lifters are just using their own natural leverages to their full potential. In a powerlifting competition, there is no use to keep your back flat, as all it does is increase ROM and make the lift harder.

In the squat, most powerlifters squat low bar and with a wide stance. They do a wide stance, because the bar travels less distance, as opposed to having your feet very narrow. Is this cheating? No.

Same thing with a sumo deadlift. It decreases ROM, but it isn't necessarily easier for everyone. If you are pulling 600 pounds, you still have to have the strength to pull 600 off the floor and also have the grip strength to hold 600, regardless of stance. Sumo is harder to break the ground, as opposed to convential, so lifters who struggle with speed off the ground, may be better suited to convential. Liftets who struggle with lock outs, but are good off the floor, and have the appropriate leverages, should try sumo out.

I have long legs, short torso, and long arms. Sumo feels like butter to me and convential has always felt sluggish, regardless of whatever technique I have tried with it.

When we measure our leverages, does that mean someone who's best suited to sumo wouldn't build as much muscle with conventional, or is it just that they can get their best form with sumo?

Few questions, sumo, looks like your missing a lot of distance during the up motion, also why does everyone just drop the weight?

This is wrong for me.

I'm 6"8" with long arms, long legs and a short torso. I'd blow my back out if I tried to lift with a close stance, plus the bar wouldn't clear my knees.

I'm still very new to deadlifting because conventional didn't feel right on my back. Started pulling sumo a week ago and it feels a lot more natural. I'm still pretty weak in deadlifts but I'm sure I will improve now that I can actually put it in my program without worrying about snapping my back.
