Your standards are correct but in the infantry we don't accept anything lower then 49 push-ups 59 situps and a 1530 run. We don't like people getting below a 70 in each event. Also you guys should try the new army ACFT. They are changing the pt test ots way different now.

Yada yada, strength vs endurance yada yada. Simple repetitive calisthenics shit like push ups, sit ups, or even a run is something you train to get better at. And while they did fail some thing, given how good they did with no prior training, if they were to each take like 2 weeks to just practice they’d probably both do pretty darn good. If they practiced doing push ups and sit ups for reps they’d probably max it out within a month

These guys muscles are for show, not to go.they’re great for lifting heavy weights and standing looking in the mirror but not much else. These guys would be shite at virtually any sport from MMA to Rugby to football. No endurance.

These tests are not the end of infantry selection tests, for being declared a fit for purpose and final standards to be selected for infantry employment in a combat infantry Regiment, of any nations infantry. They have so many more physical tests they have to pass. Load carrying marches of ever increasing weight and distance getting up into the 6-9mile speed marches and further distances, over moorland, hills terrain etc and doing it in field combat boots and battle uniform fatigues and carrying all their kit; bergans, fighting order webbing and personal weapon, weight loads ranging from 35lbs to 80lbs and more. These tests you are doing are like entry level demands, just to be accepted for military training and they are based on being tested in PT kit and basic fitness tests and basic fitness standard requirement for all service people to maintain, hence annual or 6monthly test requirement. Still, for no preparation at all, assuming,….and being civvies and not having the testing atmosphere of being in a military environment and with military training staff PTI's "motivating" you, around you and in your face, good effort.
After watching them struggle to do 40 PU without resting I’m quite proud of myself that I can do 80 without resting
