i know its good if jeremy says it is but they looked a little high from my angle like just hitting parallel correct me if im wrong im a beginner i cant even squat cleanly with the bar cuz my mobility is complete ass and now i just started doing goblet squats and foam rolling any other tips so i can finally go back to barbell without half reppin?

Awesome progression man! You and Candito are probably the two channels that I watch the most for good advice and tips. Does anybody know if Omar has an email address where I could email a video and have him critique my squat form?

Does anyone have any advice for making the weight feel a bit less heavy? It might sound like a dumb question but I'm talking about in terms of overloading. As I've been working into the upper 300's for squats I've noticed that the main thing holding me back is that the weight feels incredibly heavy to me and tends to make me less confident when descending into the hole.

For benching, there's board presses, and for deadlifts, there's rack pulls. Is there any kind of method for squats that can achieve the same effect as the two lifts I just mentioned?

Awesome stuff man. I don't get how you have 92 dislikes for such a positive video tho. You are showcasing a 20 lb PR in one week for your squat which is fantastic and there's 92 jealous douchebags who are gonna click dislike. WTF? When i don't like a vid i jus exit out lol.

Omar, I know you've said you want to get into Olympic lifting, but have you thought about competing in powerlifting instead? You'd have a very respectable total in the 181s. Great PR by the way.

Good squatting. Serious question. Was that the first time you had 475lb on your back? Or do you do super-maximal loading (without squatting to parallel) occasionally to help prepare for a new pr?

I'm obviously not experienced but you should try pausing at the bottom to get comfortable to it as I saw Bart Kwan do. Anyway just something from a newbie doubt you'l even see this but congrats on the lift a great inspiration to me.

Wow, crazy weight. You don't look like you can lift so much… I'm not sure whether this kind of power training helps to grow a lot of muscle…

What's with the oly shoes and low bar. Don't you miss the ass to ankle squats. You are clearly much stronger than I, but get that range man.

I'm currently doing the exact same routine when it comes to squats as you, since my knee is injured. Its not the weight that hurts its the number of reps. So to maintain I am constantly going heavy and adding 10 pounds each week to my one rep if its a clean good form rep. Good job getting 475.

just a question… do you squat to a depth that you feel is sufficiently satisfactory to you personally, or try to hold yourself to ipf standards?

Reply
HoldMyB33rforme August 2, 2014 - 4:39 pm

If you have to ask if the depth was good, than the depth probably was not good.

Reply
rooniejames August 3, 2014 - 4:21 pm

I think Omar's depth is not good. Every squat is perfectly parallel.
Hey, I'm just commenting, which is what you're supposed to do. I don't want Omar's army coming after me now, just want to see if there is someone else out there with the same opinion as me.

Hey Omar, great vid, ive been doing low bar squats for a while now and ive never had problems with the bar on my neck/traps but with low bar ive found that after even a 3 rep set i get a killer headache pain that goes up to my neck and head. I can work through it but is this something that will go away after awhile or is the bar possibly to low or should I be building some bigger traps/upper back to better cushion the bar?

Thanks

I just started lowbar squats today and it kills my wrist unless I have wrist straps on, do you feel pain in you're wrist at all or no

Reply
Jorge Horna August 3, 2018 - 3:25 am

Arent u too upright? Or maybe it is the camera focus, and im just asking cause most competitive athletes I watched look down while performing the low bar squat.
