Hey dude I know what happened to him I knew phil personally he was from Trenton NJ and that where Im from he started out at Man's World Gym in Trenton, and yes he did stop bodybuilding and from what I herd it was because he felt it was alot of politics in judging of contest and also no money in it. so he became a CO at Trenton State Prison and that was in the late 80s early 90s and after that I lost contact …. I guess he is still in Trenton
If I had those arms, every pose would be a mantis. I would walk around the grocery store in a mantis pose. I'd figure out a way to pump gas in a mantis pose. Crazy size on those bad boys…

I new Phill, use to see him all the time working out in Mans World gym. Workout a few times with him. Killer workouts. What a shame is disappeared. Even by today's standards amazing. He had potential to win the Olympia. Politics beat him, not any bodybuilder back then.

You state Phil did not have a chance because he competed against the likes of Flex Wheeler, Dorian, Kevin L, etc… That is INCORRECT. Phil Hill was before the age of Flex, Shawn Ray, Kevin, Paul D, Chris C and Dorian to mention a few. Phil competed against guys like Lee Haney, Bob Paris, Mike Ashley, Rich, Labrada, Baker, Ron Love and others from the 80 to 1990. Remember Flex did not earn his pro card until 92, winning the USA Championship, if I recall right. Phil retired before Flex hit the pro stage in 93. Whatever the case Phil usually got ripped off and I never understood why. He lacked nothing and had a tiny waist and great abs. He was mass with class. The guy could even do a near full split during his posing routines, even with his HUGE quads. He was one of the most overlooked bodybuilders in the 80's…..PERIOD! That is probably why he retired.
