We decided to stop by Crystal’s Gym for Memorial day to try the Murph workout.
The workout is
1 Mile Run
100 Pull Ups
200 Push Ups
300 Squats
1 Mile Run
You can divide it however you want as long as you keep the 1 mile runs at the front and end of the workout. We mostly did 10 pull ups, 20 push ups, 30 squats. We didn’t kip for the pull ups which is how this workout is traditionally done. Makes it much harder. We also used no weight vest, it is traditionally done with a 20lb vest.

How to get started with Calisthenics?
First I would highly recommend buying a home pull up bar. I left my suggestions down below.

Having a home pull up bar lets you practice more often. For most movements all you need is a sturdy over head bar and the floor. You should also find a park near you if this is possible. Some countries or areas of the world this is not possible. We try to help with our Park Finder.

Now that you have a place or places to workout you need to determine your goals. If you want to get more fit. learn a skill, lose fat. Different workout programs are for different goals.

This channel features of variety of people with separate training styles and programs that they run concurrently with Barstarzz training. So the answer is dependent on the person in the video. One thing stays true for all is most of their workout is Calisthenics somewhere near 75%.

It really wasn't necessary to include the crossfit-style pull ups…
I did Murph years ago, but I didn’t get a good time since I can typically only do about 1 pull-up & about 10 push-ups at a time (111kg Powerlifter…. not entirely sure why I watch this Channel, beyond that I find it entertaining 😅).

Hey Ed, I have a question bro, I would really appreciate your advice… do you think its beneficial to do a workout that consists of doing something like, 50 pull ups, 50 dips, 20 chin ups, 100 push ups, etc. (numbers are arbitrary) All done at your own pace, in which ever order you feel, or do you think its more beneficial to follow a specific routine such as the 60 second rotation workout shown in the barstarzz app?
Lol strictest form huh? That fish flop shit ain't it. Even the people not kipping still weren't doing strict form. All the way down, shrug, and all the way up. Pushups are touch nose to floor where arms reach 90° or greater, and fully extend, and KEEP YOUR BACK STRAIGHT. Squats are 90° or greater. Damn crossfitters. Taking your shirt off isn't gonna fix your form.

It was funny when he said the pushups and pullups were easy because he does them regularly. So any reason why a calisthenics athlete isn't regularly running and squatting? Almost doesn't serve to be called calisthenics at this point.
This shit is easy. I have to do this in my Weight training class every 3 weeks
Quit bagging butterfly pull-ups. Gymnasts invented those and they're the strongest pound for pound calisthenic athletes out there. At least they're working out. Butterflys also have no risk of injury when done properly
