1:26 best encapsulates my thoughts on this very serious issue.

>People: I follow these ripped guys at 200+lbs… They're like, totally natty.
>also those people: Jeff used fake weights in a demonstration… His advice is now invalid.

I feel this is a complete non issue due to what his channel is about. He isn't showing off his max lift, and doesn't rely on that kind of stuff for his channel. I don't care if he was using balloons as long as he is using proper technique and not giving dangerous advice (which in the video you can actually critique these things and yet very few are) All of his content is for beginner and intermediates the knowledge he throws down is what is important, not the weights.

That said I think you did a great job covering this from a rational standpoint. Keep up the great work. I somehow got unsubbed from ya, so enjoy the resub lol.

Your thoughts on an issue? Shouting incoherently right into the camera. Yeah, lovely to listen to. Who wants a normally spoken, reasonably articulate, grown up human being? No point in that now is there.

Once we start talking about content and ultimately the quality I think there are a couple of things that need understanding

1. Even the most fastidious provider will have good stuff, average stuff and pointless stuff.
2. “The best” channel doesn’t exist. It is very subjective and utterly relative to where you are on your own journey.
3. It down to me to filter and not blindly accept everything I click on
4. West Ham are shit.

I couldn't give 2 *** if Jeff uses fake weights. Seriously. I've been watching his videos forever and never have I even paid attention to how much weight he can lift.
All I care about is his advice, which is solid and is better than most of the stuff you'll find on youtube.

youtube only cares about engagement, not if it's rotting your brain or even potentially doing harm. I saw a thing a bit ago about how if you keep it on auto play it pretty much always ends up on conspiracy theories because there are people who use youtube to basically be addicted to that shit. Obviously gossip and fake stuff floats to the top. There's a slight but real effect this also has on POC content creators where if people are just 5% more likely to click on white content creators (maybe because they're white and they just relate to them 5% more subconsciously) that still means over time that adds up and it seems like the algorithm is accidently racist. Obviously this also goes for being conventionally attractive or like like you said dumb shit like not wearing a shirt. I kind of wish youtube would just figure out a better way to judge content.

I don't care if someone uses "fake" weights, it just really hurts their credibility if they lie about it (say it was real weight).

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were  you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this site is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no point, and may God have mercy on your soul.

This is my first time watching one of your videos & I’m super impressed with how you handled this topic. No fingers pointing or bagging the competition rather benefit of the doubt & focusing on the bigger picture which could have contributed to the situation. I’m not used to seeing such a mature well rounded response in this situation – hallelujah there is hope for humanity 😉

I wasn't aware about any Athlean X controversy.

So what if Jeff Cavalier uses fake weights in videos or is on a hormonal replacement program or down right on the roids. He needs to do those things because the average idiotic viewer tends to dismiss solid knowledge over bulging muscles.

That being said, I come from a pro sports background and Athlean X' instructions on exercise technique -and performance are pretty close to impecible. When it comes to nutrition and who can do what on their respective strength level on the other hand I'd never listen to an ounce of his advice. It's horrible in that sense.

My advice would be not to put so much text on your future videos. It is difficult to decide to hear or read. 😉

As a filmmaker not every take will work, a sneeze half way through, a bug lands on you, that means another take. So a twenty minute work out might take over an hour to film. Hell yeah you need Prop weights. Does he have a real history as a coach? Yes? Does he look in shape? Yes? – guess what, superman cannot really fly. But the message behind that hero is good. People need to get it together. – great perspective by the way.

Jeff is a hack. Anyone that speaks out against a lift or type of workout without science backing it are hacks. End of story. If you want results look at Arnold and look at Jim Stoppani. That's all you need.

Too many people just don’t have integrity & are quick to take the easy way out to make faster money now a days. People say it’s not a knock on Jeff or this or that but fuck that once you lie I question everything you do/say. Maybe that is just the person I am as I am old school. There is too many bs “trainers” on here that make it harder finding the good trainers on here to make a workout plan, learn new techniques/workouts, finding better diets, & good supplements. People should be held accountable for their actions or this will be just the beginning. Shit look at all these young ass kids on steroids now it’s ridiculous no 15-25 year old should be taking steroids they haven’t even gotten to see what their body can fucking do before they just hop on shit trying to fit in/look cool 🤦🏼‍♂️.

Sorry for possibly stupid question, but how does a deadlift bar make bench press easier? Is it lighter? I thought it was thinner, making bp harder

Mike Fu March 30, 2021 - 4:13 pm

Jeff CLAIMED to be lifting 400 or 500 with fake weights!! That is the problem…….Fake weights are not a big deal for "demonstrating" stuff, video production sucks, no one can sit there and move Real weights for 10 hours, 5 days a week…….but when you CLAIM to lift it, that is the problem.

The great Serge Nubret used moderate weight – google image his shreds. Jeff preached 'leave the ego at the door' and didn't, and then lied. He'd lie about TRT too. Sadly, he never needed to. I'd understand empty bar lifting and TRT if needed – all day long.

I find Jeff’s content to be helpful. If he uses real or fake weights for his demonstrations has no importance to me. Specially if he is demonstrating form he should be doing the exercises with weights he can comfortably handle.
The argument of leaving ego at the door is valid. But that is relevant to himself and his own journey. I see him for the valuable tips on how to approach a routine for exercising. After all is done I think I will continue to watch him, again, because of his very good content. I find it funny that some you tubers had their “aha!” moment with this irrelevant issue. Jeff clearly puts plenty of time in the gym. If he can or can not lift something is totally irrelevant to me.

Why does anyone give a shit? Do we really care if his tutorials are faked? It only matters if his information is accurate. It's not like he built his body with fake weights and even if he did, who cares. I don't care if his bench 1rm is 125 lbs, he still has to get the damn job done to build muscle. I doubt he is on steroids and if he is, it certainly isn't a body that's unobtainable for most people. Stop worrying about everyone else and go push some damn weights.
