He was one of my faves
He later went on to become an accomplished artist specialising in Wild West themes
Better forearms than Flex.
his face 😂😂 when he does that victory pose!
Thank you, Nick for Chuck vid. He is my all time fave. felt heartbroken when I learned about his suicide. not a lot of people nowadays know about Chuck Sipes Although his photos are everywhere on the bodybuilding magazines in the old days.
He has a proper midsection and only a small handful of bodybuilders have this, the rest have drug induced midsections.
This guy was pretty damn big! Especially for back then right? 5'9 at 220 on stage? He must've blown other dudes outta the water!
I hope aesthetics will return soon!! Thanks Nick for that knowledge I defenetly love that day when i fojnd your youtube channel 😀
orite bro hope your keeping awesome. nice seeing the channel growing, been awhile for me but you deserve it your vids are wicked. have been really busy changing jobs, chasing women and stuff lol. been sticking with the dumbells you guys recommended for me to cure my alien arms lol those wrist curls still burn like F&*^ but actual have shape now rather then just a straight line of bones feel a lot less selfconcious 😀 have to wear t-shirts at my new job and dont have man boobs now either lol its pretty good. thanks for taking the time to give me advice to you and the guys, the community you have here is pretty sweet 🙂
Wow, I'm a fan of this guy's physique! Looks great.
"…for that time"
No, it's all very impressive, period. Only e-stating neckbeards think otherwise. A strong man is a strong man, a big man is a big man.
He only had one arm.. impressive for a bodybuilder… "19 1/2 inch arm.."
Damn his core is amazing!
Once again great vid. He was really into nature, and would sometimes have his wife drop him off in the woods with virtually nothing but a knife and some water and she would pick him up like a week later.
I can't squat 250lb.
You should do a video on Leroy Colbert
bodybuilding legend my ass. how many Mr O. is he?
AMAZING genes as I am sure for a long time he was a REAL natural– I never knew he committed suicide though, very hard for some high level athletes to realize they are old men now and have to deal with aging, losing their appearance of youth, etc
Not only looks strong but was strong. Also a really innovative trainer.
I was away from bodybuilding for a while, so I wasn't aware of Chuck's suicide. Very sad, since he was one of my favorites. I remember that when he was in contest prep, he would disappear into the woods with the Boy Scouts he was the "Scout Master" of. He would emerge from the forest in contest condition — probably from living on a 'fish only' diet while camping with the scouts and lots of bodyweight calisthenics.
I remember his daughter doing an interview, where she said that when she dated and her dad told the "young man" when to have his daughter home, she was always there on time or early. I can understand why.
When I was a kid I was a Chuck Sipes fan…His forarms were exceptional.
Talk about a rugged physique! Sipes also did a strongman act ripping license plates, blowing up water bottles, etc. Much more impressive than so many of modern bloated, super pumped up muscle men.
61 is a young age ? i m 21 …. means i m not even born yet ! 😂😂😂😂😂😂 … but the guy is monster man !!!
Do a video on big Lenny
Great history on this guy! He looked like he was ripped really well for that time.
perfection, then and now.
Charleston Hestons body double, honestly.
2:58 troubled yewts ?
love it thanks for looking up some of the classic guys for us!! also could you do a wwf video on the British bulldog
Do you have any stats on the average lifespan of a pro bodybuilder? It seems like a lot of them die young
Do one on Anthony Yarde…that guy has some strength and power.
Hey Nick .. can you do some vids on the Masters Olympia back in the mid 90s .. and in particular Vince Taylor and Sonny Schmidt (a fellow aussie)
he looks very vascular for the 1950s
Sipes could tear license plates in half…
Accommodate principal late writer trailer Senate cross twin.
I knew guys who knew him personally and they all said that he was freakishly strong. He had some awesome forearms, too.
How about Clarence Ross
Mr Chuck snipe he was a bodybuilder legend, a true powerhouse
Joe Weider created the IFBB to compete against the traditional AAU bodybuilding contests. In many cases the IFBB Mr. America and Mr. Universe winners outclassed their AAU counterparts. Chuck Sipes was one that comes to mind. Chuck also performed many strongman shows where he bent metal bars and blew up hot water bottles until they burst.
Chuck Supes had the best abs EVER!!
Yeah, he had that type of Classic Physiques…one of the Greatest Bodybuilders of that Era. R.I.P.
Franco Columbu always says that he was the strongest BB , but I doubt it Chuck was very very strong to , and Sipes even developed an arm wrestling device because Chuck was a very good arm wrestler to!!!
Natty ?
1971 Muscle Mag had Headline "Drugs are destroying musclemen? Very early to recognize as problem.
Chuck was a beast, he also did a lot of hand strength demos like breaking jack chain and tearing license plates in half. Nice tribute to one of the legends if iron.
I'm 64 years old and I remember the old muscle magazines. I definitely remember Chuck Sipes. It's nice to know he was a Christian. I've met a lot of old-time BBs. I've met Lou F., Mike K., Bill G., Mike G., Harold P., and a few others. It's really nice of you to educate the ones that don't know these greats…
Thanks.
Dan
Nick, is it true that there was a statement back in the day that Chuck Sipes and Franco Columbu were the two strongest Bodybuilders?? greetings from the Netherlands Europe and keep up the good work buddy !!
Chuck Sipes barely defeated Mike Hercules in the Mr Universe in 1960 who came from the island of Trinidad and Tobago as an unknown to compete in that show
Chuck sipes was ahead of his time with size and conditioning
