In my 30's took the course, it was great and worked. Used to have the complete course in an old notebook, but it got tossed out many years ago. He was also famous for doing "strong man" stunts, such as pulling by a rope maybe 8 or 9 cars for maybe 10-20 yards.

I'm a firm believer in dynamic tension. Every muscle has an ~equal counter muscle.

I used to see Charles Atlas ads in the back of every comic book in the 50’s and 60’s. Every kid wanted to look like him!

Charles atlas was ahead of his time.
But the change in physique is purely down to chemicals.
Best physique I've seen natural or near natural was Steve Reeves.but Charles atlas was a pioneer.
Now the bodybuilders look vulgar!

Charles Atlas added years to my life. At 14 I sent away for his "course.". Within 3 years I had added 50 lbs of muscle. Most importantly I ate good food and did not smoke. All my friends took up smoking but not me. Thank you, thank you for guiding me to a path of fitness and healthy eating!

I remember seeing the Charles Atlas ads in comic books when I was a kid. My cousin ordered it and transformed himself from a skinny kid to quite muscular, isometrics is basically what it was. Of course it didn’t work for me, too many Hostess Twinkies and Ho-Ho’s. 😂😂😂

Angelo Siciliano won 'America's Most Handsome Man Contest' in 1921, which was a photo contest sponsored by Bernarr MacFadden via Physical CultureMagazine. In 1922 Siciliano won 'America's Most Perfectly Developed Man' contest at Madison Square Garden, again sponsored by MacFadden and his magazine. Angelo officially changed his name in to Charles Atlas in 1922. That same year he started selling a mail order bodybuilding course in partnership with Fred Tilney, an English homeopathic physician who worked at Physical Culture magazine. Tilney sold his half of the business to Charles P. Roman in 1929, and moved to Miami, where he ran a successful health food store. It was Roman that coined the phrase "Dynamic Tension," to describe Atlas's exercise regime, arranged most of Atlas's publicity appearances and developed the many famous magazine & comic books that propelled atlas to international fame. Roman changed Atlas's titIe to 'The Worlds Most Perfectly Developed Man' to improve sales. knew Charles Atlas Jr, son of the famous bodybuilder until his passing in 2008.
