Remember Arnolds description of bodybuilding in Pumping Iron? Like a sculptor who has a vision and sculpts the clay that way, the bodybuilder has the same artistic vision but workouts out to get it on there instead of molding the clay? Where do you see that in bodybuilding now? Thats what classic physique is doing, classic physique is what bodybuilding is supposed to be

I thought good genetics was being able to build a muscular physique without drugs. I mean some of these mass monsters make these comments about classic physique but take away their drugs and see how well they would do trying to build muscle.
How could anyone prefer the open category? Guys on using synthol and insulin with beer guts? Their guts when hitting a back pose is actually hilarious those guys are huge though. I think prefer classic

I really respect phill heath for all he has achieved, but i prefer breon over phill because breon is far more aesthetic.

Why not talk about the health side ? If classic physique man doesn't take any steroids or hormones, Doesn't that mean that they are also atleast 10 times healthier than the open body building ? And doesn't it sound weird that someone would invest time and money on a sport in order to kill himself ???

I prefer the classic look over the Open look because it's LESS muscle. Like the expression: "Less is More" works all the time. That's why this sport has been going down hill for some years now. The women don't even have the Ms Olympia contest anymore because there's just TOO MUCH muscularity in the women and the men's division are a bunch of fricken FREAKS.
Looks like they are going to cannibalize Open to where it will go away. Just like what they did with Womens BB (Figure). Pretty easy to see that. Funny how "Physique" is the new buzzword. "Bodybuilding" is not marketable. Now the new smaller Classic shorts the tidal wave is coming. Now the smaller Natural look is in that used to be maligned! More marketable towards Natty competitors too! For Natty's? No chance to be a great pro. However great marketing to the indifferent and luring them in. $$$ BTW Kali needs calves if it is about symmetry.
Open should have kept to the Classic style of posing. If Heath posed like Haney he would look better. Posing has gone to crap and another reason Classic will take over.
Breon looks way better
It's not much different in my opinion. Breon is smaller by a good margin, but he's also 2" shorter. Height makes a major difference. If Breon weighed 215 he'd be nearly a shorter version of Phil. A little bit less drugs and definitely more aesthetic. That's a plus. The classic guys are really just a smaller version of Men's open competitors. It is more attainable for the general public, but be serious. Average men will never look like Breon and have that size and conditioning without using large doses of steroids and putting their bodies through Hell. That being said, I do believe both divisions are great for the sport and I do prefer the look of the classic physique guys over the men's open division. I have a bigorexia problem, but I still prefer an aesthetic look over mass any day. Big and aesthetic is better than bigger and more blocky. Always.
