Due to various injuries throughout the years, and sciatica pain that makes squats and deadlifts impractical, would you say calisthenics are a more practical workout for me? I don’t need muscle mass. I’m close to 50. I want a lean look and something easily maintainable with home workouts.

Gonna be honest, take the gear. You're probably not going to get big. It's not that easy. Some people just do not respond very well to steroids but they think all they have to do is take a cycle and they'll be huge. No you won't. It's not easy. It's very, very difficult to put on legit size even with gear.

My dad legitimately tried to tell me that Ronnie Coleman never did steroids. I was in utter disbelief that had actually believed that 😂

Good food, good trainers the best supplements stacks, and 100% a bit of "the Juice" not a lot.
Less than the old 200 a week stack of Deca or Test and Lonavar in the 70's, that would would see even the average with Average endogenous testosterone Levels, for Man at 185 lbs lean get up to around 215 easy…especially stacked with CoQ10 Creatine Monohydrate Glutamine BCAAs and Science Diet.
It's hundred percent fact.
Throw in Getting Bloods done all clean and some HGH and bang 220+
Thing is Body Builders with shit genetics are taking 5000 1000 ml and more a week and look at the epidemic of death in their 30's and 40' literally Dozens on Mr Olympia competitors all Dead.
I managed a Gym where Gary Himing Trained in Melbourne Australia… he had very poor Genetics. He is dead.
God Bless him but he never had it and thought the drugs could get him the Olympia and he is dead.
It's on YouTube he died on stage.
An actor with decent Genes could look great juicing with minimum Gear…but not stay in shape doing the odd 80 hour weeks on set no way could they do it clean.
Food on set is as good as anywhere in the World as well.

Dude this was fascinating and I really appreciate the video. Definitely encouraging to see other naturals out there open about how they look in reality and that our peak physique is not an "all the time" thing.

Just think about it they only transportation they had was horses chariots that was only for the main high elite society who can afford it. So commonly most people traveled by sandals and feet. The Hollywood jacked muscle is not going to happen

7:20 most people don't realize just how HARD being a peasant was. Modern estimates say that your average peasant or serf burned around 4000-6000 calories a day, and that average is if anything low since that's what any peasant burned, including women and older people, so a fit man would burn more especially if he had an extra difficult job like miner, slave, solider, or sailor who were all still "peasants" and despite all those calories they were thin from the backbreaking work. Keep in mind many people in Europe would eat a pound of bread a day and they had oil, beans, fatty meat, fish, vegetables, and beer on top of that.

Whenever you see someone look big and shredded in a movie you have to realize that it's not how they actually look. There's like 5 layers of enhancing factors:
1) They know exactly which date they will be shooting that scene and plan their entire diet around peaking at that specific date.
2) They pump up their muscles, just like bodybuilders before a competition, before those scenes.
3) They have professional make up artists who can enhance the look of the muscles by highlighting and shadowing (just like women who use make up in their cleavage)
4) They have cinematographers and lighting crew who know exactly which angles to shoot from, which focal lengths to use and where to put the lights to maximize the effect of shadows.
5) Even after all that there's the post-fx work where they will enhance those contrasts, etc, even more.

Basically the thumbnail image of Cavill might as well be taken on the same day (would have to be a fake beard though…) since the lighting is dog shit in the left picture, and perfect in the right.

Sure, gear is used by some obviously, but the idea that every buff guy in Hollywood is on gear is ridiculous. Look at paparazi shots of them to see how they actually look, not stills from movies or photos from Men's Health…

Im not disagreeing with a single thing you're saying. That being said, I believe incredible physiques in a limited amount of time is possible. I had a back injury a year and a half ago. Just recently, I got back to exercising. I've been documenting everything. And now, on the 18th day, 2 and a half weeks in, I see I've dropped 7lbs. Going from 195 to 188, while putting on a grip of muscle. And with the exception of benching, all I'm doing is calisthenics for an hour or 2 a day. With rest days. No hormones. Just making sure I'm getting 100-150grams of protein a day. BTW, I'm 37. Some people have genuine conditions for which they can not get the body they desire. Thats 100% true. Most people, just shy away from the work because, in all fairness, it can be scary and intimidating, and for most people, its just not worth the trade off of pain and time lost.

Jackman could have easily put on that much muscle in 13 years. He looks great at 46 in the pic, but that's not unrealistic without peds, especially if you just need to get that shredded temporarily for filming a movie.
