Terry Holland stayed at the same hotel as us a couple of years ago on holiday when he wasn't trimmed down, he was insanely big just his forearms and calfs were ridiculous

Pudzianowski ripped as fuck and strong as fuck. Why he dont have any serious fat on body when competing. I see his father and he was rather small frame tiny.

Mat Wilk February 28, 2018 - 9:49 pm

The best and the most shredded strong man who could easily be a bodybuilder was/is Mariusz Pudzianowski (Pudzian) – check him out and maybe make a video about him? 🙂

Awesome throwing in that Jon Paul Sigmarson reference! He is not talked about enough…
And powerlifters and strongmen (moreso ones that are 250Lbs and up) very often cross back and forth. Both always do things like squat and deadlift, you cant be a strongman if you cant deadlift (also there is no reason to be alive if you cant do deadlift lol), whether youre deadlifting to get your big 3 number up or your trying to get better at lifting Atlas stones. Also the WSM 2018 winner also has a powerlifting (equipped deadlift) world record (eddie Hall). Stan effording could deff compete in strongman, and Terry holands can definitly powerlift, the two are very similar.

Strongman over Powerlifter for strength.

Depends on if Hollands' strength us transferred to his lower weight.

I wanna see the big dudes from strongman take up boxing to be honest. All that weight behind those punches? It's a winning combination, no pun intended

I think they should go both ways personally. It makes things interesting

Strongman by miles ….strong man have to do framers walk yoke loglift grip strength they have to load stuff by speed ,,just something to think about they do a 120kg dumbells one handed above there head the dumbells are massive as well

Reply
Tom Gregory March 1, 2018 - 9:00 am

He is a nice geezer as well got a good deadlift really good grip one of the best truck pullers in history as well his only down side was his over head press

Reply
N-Rev March 1, 2018 - 9:17 am

zydrunas also did something similar. went from 170kg to 155kg.

Reply
Chris March 1, 2018 - 12:16 pm

Stan would have a much better bench because strongman competitors don't really train it that much and there's never a bench press style event. Terry has a big squat and DL and would be better at events involving more dynamic movements.

Being 6'6" maybe hurt him being tall has hurt more bodybuilders than it has helped

Can still be strong and lean. Many examples from powerlifting, strongman, olympic lifting: Dan Green, Larry Wheels, Mariusz Pudzianowski, Dimitry Klokov, etc. This fat look is just antiquated old school thinking.

Absolute strength or relative strength? – is the question. Huge absolute lifts by big men vs. big lifts by small men. The latter sometimes is 2-3 times their bodyweight – example Richard Hawthorne – that is stronger relative strength.

schmui March 1, 2018 - 5:50 pm

1:30 Who's stronger? The one who's stronger (pound for pound), obviously.
If you can't compare lifts, it's no contest. Period.

No terry is not the strongest living bodybuilder. When he was 180kg bodyweight, he was very strong but not an bodybuilder. Now that he is a bodybuilder, he lost strenght along the way. Larry wheels is hands down the strongest bodybuilder ever. Even stronger than stan efferding

bastiaan0741 March 1, 2018 - 9:11 pm

Dropping all that weight, he surely lost some strength as well.

Pound for pound doesn't matter. A 400lbs guy who does an 800lbs deadlift is stronger than a 250lbs guy doing a 790lbs deadlift.

Top Strongmen tend to have very wide lower rib cages, wide hips, and very thick joints. Also they tend to be tall. Basically the polar opposite of Phil Heath structure. It is very interesting to see one of the top Strongmen dieted down to see the differences of frame shape, muscle insertions and so on. If you check put Terry's IG you'll see his loose skin has been tightening up well too.

Reply

I think he would do well in classic physique. His genetics are good and his 6'6 frame would be very imposing on stage.

Strongman by far, this requires much more mobility by far. Yeah they use straps, but now support suits…bench shirts, squat suits, etc. Powetlifters dissed Eddie Hall's record because he used straps. But he also only wore a belt and thats it. My guess is if youstrip everything away, say like in trunks and nothing else, Hall will blow them out of the water. Terry has the mass, the old school "look of power." Refine his diet a little more he will be awesome! Btw, he lost 120 lbs eating 8,000 calories a day! What does that tell you?

I wouldn't wanna add too much fat in powerlifting because you'd end up going into a higher weight category where the expectation is higher. Eat lots of healthy food (high protein and no simple sugars, saturated fat, etc.) and train hard

The Beast March 12, 2020 - 11:57 pm

The best of both worlds. He has the strength of a man who's ready to rumble a bear, and the body to show it.
