Tip for guys with headaches. For about 3 months I suffered severe headaches when performing any kind of excercise. It would already be triggered by 5 push ups. When I stopped the headaches would last about 30 seconds and then dissapear again. For anybody who is suffering the same, visit a physiotherapist. It was a problem with some of my upper spines. In about 5 treatments it was completely gone!

Does anyone know if elbow popping and tingling when benching and doing skull crushers is common??

Reply
BodsOfTheGods July 1, 2013 - 5:03 pm

tingling might be from beta alanine if you are taking a pre workout

i have elbow pain after chest and tricep workouts. there is no pain during the workout but it will come about 1-2 days after. im using an upper/lower split where i do dumbel benchpress, triceppress, seated shoulderpress and barbell rows for upper body. i think the pain comes from the dumbell benchpress even though i keep my elbows tucked in, shoulders retracted and i have even limited the range of motion to see if it helps but nothing works.

I have lower back pain all the time and now my shoulder hurts during my pressing movements. I think it's because it's a shoulder impingement..

Def had skull crusher elbow pain recently. But I went too heavy, with too many reps on either ez bar preacher curls, or lat pull-downs (greater than my body weight). Either way, I'm having medial elbow and forearm pain. (Like you said, from my wrists rolling down/ or perhaps my forearms not being strong enough to hold the weight in the preacher curl).

Fellow Omar here! I have been on Starting Strength for 4-5 weeks, have made substantial gains (in body weight and strength) and am feeling better than ever. However, I have not been able to do a shoulder press or power clean (elbow moves around) but have stuck to squat bench n deadlift. If you have a shoulder injury like me (the one he mentions in this video), try his advice! It is fantastic for not just the bench, but has greatly helped my form and eased pain/asymmetry in bench and curl. Thx!

I had elbow pain while benching. I treid to lower the weight cuz I thought the low weight will help with recovering, instead it just went on worse. So I switched to weighted Dips. So far so good, actually I even like it better how it affects my chest's look and Military Press strength.

I used to believe all of this. Now ive realised the only way to recover is rest. Your central nervous system and immune system are weak. Give it days to weeks of non strenuous exercise.

I constantly have elbow pain. My left arm has the case of Golfer's Elbow while my right arm has a much worse case, triceps tendinitis. Pretty sure it's the skull crushers. I've been resting myself for almost 2 weeks now, and the pain is almost completely gone. I might have to give it a whole month of rest to be sure.
Tricep tendinitis will crush your gain goals. Be careful with your elbows, they're really easy to damage. If you have tendinitis like me, be sure to RICE it for the first few days of inflammation and then alternate between heat packs and ice packs to help it recover. Limit the use of the joint as much as possible. Pain killers are okay to use, but will not heal anything. Good luck everybody!

Frozen peas are the best…they stay frozen longer and you can nestle the elbow into the bag like a frosty beanbag…I have four packs in my freezer at all times…cheaper than gel packs and work better imo.

Do you have any alternatives to prowler work? There is no gym in my country (Peru) with a prowler. I do have some knee pain
