I think he would actually be able to win a sand down .

If Dexter can actually win the Mr O, then why can’t Flex? I think their heights are comparable. I think it should be the other way round with the open division “coming down” to meet him, instead of him adding more body weights to move up. Shouldn’t bodybuilding be about symmetry, proportion muscle size ( with regard to height) and posing quality instead of who weighs most, has the biggest gut and looks freakish, can speak the best American English and is the Judge’s favorite spokesperson for selling products??

You set a new standard and be a champion in the Olympia unless you dethrone the Champ! And as short as he is ,he is serious massive and maybe getting bigger will take away from his overall shape a symmetry. But idk well have to see. Either way 5'6" is not really tall but it's not super short! He's not Phil Heath but he is Flex! Should be very interesting to witness, plus I always root for the under dog! 💪☝

I don't think it's smart of him but EVEN currently if he jumped in the open he could place well. Keep in mind Dex and Bonac are maybe taller by a few inches max. But as Nick said he is probably about 220-230 onstage. Don't buy what Dex claims about 240's he is low 230's at most and Bonac is too. One has an O title and is always top 3-5 the other is now getting 3-5 too. What is that saying?

It's all hype… This talk just draws more attention and that increases following and more social media interest in him… Just because his coach says it means it's true… I call No Way… Especially the way Flex wrote in his own announcement, there is no way.. If you read it on his profile on IG you definitely get from him that he is done and not just with 212…. But, I could be wrong…

Just because he is moving up to the open class doesn't necessarily mean he's going to go overboard and blow his lines. I'm sure he will keep it classy and pick up where Lee had let off. Kill them with quality and conditioning…not sheer size!

i think he really wanted to retire but because of some relentlessnes in his heart and issues with himself he just got overwehlmed and now decided this. like someone who gets scared before marriage. he got scared of quitting professional bodybuilding and then decided to go to the mens open. he will destroy himself

Taking 1-2 years off would be to build enough muscle to compete in the open rather than waiting for Phil to quit 💪🏻

I love how everyone is on this “he’s gonna die like dallas” hype train stfu because this guy is nowhere even near pushing the not like Dallas was Dallas was 330 lbs in the off season flex is like 230 in the off season his heart is not working even close as hard Dallas’s was

When flex talks while walking, he is breathing heavy. That is a bad sign, he should quit. He has nothing to prove to anyone.

Smh at comments stating he’s automatically dying making this move. This guy is the best in the world and very intelligent. Phil Heath isn’t dying and he’s the top open guy?

That's gonna be tough in the open class for a shorter guy, just ask Shawn Ray

His coach said that, but I think he will retire. Other way no one forget Muhammed mekkay was a great bodybuilder, and I think if Flex Lewis decide to continue he will be great too.

What’s with all the negative comments. He has nothing left to prove in the 212 class. If he wants to challenge himself and see how he stands in the open class then more power to him. To all y’all worrying about him playing the size game by gaining more weight he’ll be fine. He is only 212 for a weigh in. Then about 230 when he hits the stage. So he knows how to gain into a show so he’ll be fine and also he won’t have to sacrifice muscle to make that weigh in before the show. Looking fwd to seeing what he can do
