Hey nick you should reach out to ESPN and ask them to cover the other worlds records. That would boost strongman, and espn would have live events. "Freddie Weaver "!!

ESPN is trash. Doesn’t bring legitimacy to anything.

I'm only going to take this serious once Kai Green announces he's making a 502kg attempt

Anyway, it should be done in the competition only. It doesnt matter, whom Thor will bring, both Brian Shaw and Big Z emphasized, that it's not the issue of fake weight or bad judgement. All the athletes get to prepare before the event, which will occur at the exact date. And you have several factors there: you have to withstand the pressure of both being watched by thousand of viewers and your adversaries, who also can be in shape to lift 501 kg. You can get an injury during the competition and thus you will noot be able to show your maximum. Competitive spirit is also quite essential, though Eddie, i think, didnt have him back in 2016. He was there only for one obvious reason, but it's only my assumption. So this recorded should be treated as gym lift record only.

It will only count as a gym lift.

All this sound and fury is just to bring attention to Thor and Strongman. Its a good thing, but that lift isn't going to be in any record book.

Eddir Hall is right.

Fishy things are easier to hide in your own gym.

why not just lift 510kg, at least make it a worth while record..

Still not sure this is the same. But if he does pull it, it's huge. Part of me Hope's he misses though for the way he treated Brian Shaw and others at WSM in recent years

Give Thor Credit. But Eddie is still the Beast. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

All Eddie haters forgetting The Best broke the record by 35Kg. So Thor might break that record yes, but it will never be as impressive.

Still not in competition tho! Competition means there are other competitors! So just a televised gym lift!

Reply
Cam Gray April 17, 2020 - 5:50 pm

does anyone know whether he's using the same bar as Eddie? Surely if he pulls it on an elephant bar it won't count…

it is good that it is getting aired live on TV
But there is still the problem how will people see it? what I mean is (as far as I know) this is the only sports world record I know that you can do in your own gym.
don't know where you got the news about Big Z? but this is a video he did talking about the 501kg lift on the 13 April, he starts by saying that Official Strongman Records can only be set in Strongman competitions.

How else do you break world records if you don’t attempt them in your home gym?

What if they invited a Guinness world record judge. Would that legitimize the record even more?

Man… hafthor is one of the greatest strongman athletes out there, that man gives everything to this sport, he trained hard and its fucking unfair to lose his physic for that fucking epidemic coronavirus, and I'm sure he can lift more than 501kg,

So question, If someone live streams log press from home gym, with official referee, and legit plates and weights so it should still should be counted, if not so why would be this record be counted, example if someone sets WR in their practice, it should also be counted as official, so we are making way for WR records setfrom home gyms not in competitions. but looking forward for the show, with 501kg deadlift
