These are a few of the staple assistance movements I did to help work around intense spinal loading with my SI issues. I credit these with helping to strengthen some weak areas I had and am now hitting all time PRs (got a new beltless squat PR I hit today, video being posted tomorrow on my Instagram: @omarisuf).
I had the most painful experience doing bulgarian split squat (badly). I did some sets between an heavy squats session and leg extensions, it took my quads almost 2 weeks to fully recover and couldn't find why. Was it the squat? The leg extension? Nope, it was the Bulg. Split Squats : I have bad balance on my feet (even with orthotic soles), so to compensate I used the elevated leg to help me go up… You can imagine, the quad is fully stretched on the bottom and I pressured it with lack of balance. Oh boy ! It hurts so bad, but I will do it again with proper form.
Quick question. Is your view on developing calves still "I dont give a fu$% about calves!" Lol. Just starting to update myself with your videos. Cheers
Yeah I've been doing BSS and Goblet squats for a while now and my back squat numbers went up with a better form too. Ankle mobility helped a lot as well.
Proper alignment is a must! We need to help our bodies move in a way that's smart, efficient and with less risk of injury. Thank you for emphasis this👍👍
Lol I did Bulgarian split squats a few weeks and just stopped doing them because I was hopping all over the place trying to get the right foot position
I never did these as I didn't initially like them but since lockdown started and walking lunges are basically out I've had to get creative and of all static lunge variations, this in the end was honestly the best.
Also would add I've started to love single leg press but I train for hypertrophy mainly these days given that we're in and out of lockdown so often. Better in my opinion to go light after long periods of inactivity and relearn movements for a month or two before going heavy again

3:50 Hey! That's my grandma! Not cool man!
Thank you Omar! Much love an respect !!💪😀
you are not doing bulgarian split squats correctly. You need to push your back leg more towards the bench so it lands straight

That was an awesome video! Thanks Omar
wtf is he talking about overloading the Bulgarian SS? You can overload any movement. Just throw on more weight than you can handle. Done!
Excellent instructions. Thanks Omar!
How high should the bulgarian squat bench be
Bulgarian Squats are harder than Ninja Gaiden on NES
Legs are for Kids.
Bulgarian split squats > Squats.
Why is my cock penis so small?
