Jeff literally haven’t said he lifted a certain at any point, so what is the problem? The argument should be that it is misleading for his audience , but Jeff haven’t claimed to do anything, literally only how to perform a exercise. I couldn’t care less

If he did it's only for demonstration of form he's not claiming records or anything. He's also done demos using light weight as well. I mean are we going to go after martial artists and fighters for practicing techniques and forms with dummies and fake weapons? No.

He might well be using prop weights in his videos because they are for demonstration purposes.
Looking at his body, he's clearly a very fit individual. He's not getting that kind of result from using fake weights. He probably needs to shoot a lot of takes, a lot of different angles, and can't do that very well if he's using real weights the entire shoot. He'd exhaust himself, get winded, risk injury, and be grunting the entire time he's trying to talk, and wouldn't be able to talk while doing the exercise. That's plenty of good reason to be using fake weights.
Having watched many of his videos, I haven't seen him do anything other than instructional fitness videos, so no videos where he's claiming to be setting a PB record or anything like that.
If you can fault him for anything, you could say that the fake weights allow him to lift far more than he's perhaps actually cabable of, while showing less effort and strain than he should be for a person of his size. If that misleads his viewers into thinking that they too should be able to lift just as much weight just as easily if they are the same size, and level of fitness as him, I don't think that actually affects very many people. For one, there's NOT that many people who are Jeff's size and fitness level. There just isn't. Second, anyone who does get to Jeff's level of fitness has obviously done enough real exercise to know what they are capable of.
In short, I think it's interesting to point out that he's using props rather than real weights, if indeed that's what he's doing, but I don't think it's a scandal. If he were competing with those weights or making claims about his capabilties, that would be one thing. But he's not doing that. He's showing people proper form, and what exercises to do. He could just as well do it with a more realistic amount of fake weights, I suppose, and maybe it'd be better if he did. But I think viewers who follow his advice get value out of the videos. There's no shortcuts to strength and fitness, other than to learn optimal workout routines and nutrition, discipline, and effort. It's hard, but it's faster and better than not learning proper technique or faking your way through your workouts.

I would call them "prop" weights in Jeff's case. Bodybuilders use fake weights in photo shoots. Actors use fake weights in movies and TV shows. Why? Because they're probably at it all day long. If you have to do many takes of you deadlifting 700 pounds, you would destroy yourself even if your 1RM is 800 pounds. Jeff is probably shooting videos not only for Youtube, but also for his clients. That means he would have to be moving tons of weight all day every day. I challenge anyone to do that with real weights.

He may be using fake weights. However, the purpose he performs any set of a particular exercise is to demonstrate the form and the technique. Which he shows perfectly. So, how does it matter if he is using fake weights?

He's Sharing knowledge …not showing how hard he can lift.

I would use fake weights as well to get a body like Jeff. Lol, who cares? His videos are for demonstration and not for strength training. He has videos using real weights as you can see through his face the struggle… Fake weights can be helpful for demo purpose and what matters is the knowledge he is laying out to you. Now it's up to you if you use fake weights after seeing his demo. I guess the one who analyzed it is just jealous of 10.3 millions subs. The man knows his thing and the one accusses is just jealous. Get a life, be strong and eventually don't get hurt.

Ok i'm not on anyone's side but his vids are mostly for showing effective exercises that actually work ( i tried many of them ) and its not a big deal using fake weights for demonstration. It does annoy me but what can i do ? Nothing. If you think well fake weights are widely used for demonstration and entertainment.

I guess the lean muscle mass he has is also fake? Doesn't matter if he uses fake weights in video demo it's to show proper form. Clearly he is lifting big weight hence the build. What a load of crap

The problem imo is that he is making himself look stronger than he actually is which in turn will help sell his programs. I know he gives great credible advice but the fake weights could lead people to think his way of training will make them just as super strong so they BUY his programs. It is quite misleading because Jeff is basically an advert for everything Athleanx. If it really really didn’t matter one bit, he wouldn’t do it.

They are not fake they move when he is working out and is 2 different types of exercise for esthetics or for strength.
And I have seen videos were he goes with other athletes and works with the same weight and repetition of a person triple his weight
Don't be idiots

If you put 4 real plates on the bar it should oscillate a little bit. That being said, Jeff teaches a lot of valuable training info. Interesting video, thanks.

Jeff is making his videos to show how to do exercises properly (or, at least, as he thinks is properly), so, it doesn’t really matter if the weights for his videos are fake or not
