It’s ok to train your arms if you like strength training.
Agreed. Im a Calisthenics athlete/weight lifter with a little aesthetics flavor thrown into the mix salt-bae style.
I build body and lift. I do athletic activities.
There's a vid on youtube of Shi Zhiyong, who is arguably the strongest person on Earth at his weight, snatching 170kg shirtless and he's pretty ripped as well, 6-pack, traps, etc. Most of the top tier Chinese weightlifters have better bodies than most other weightlifters on top of being stronger than the rest too (except the heaviest weightclasses obviously).
My opinion: the older you get the more sense natural bodybuilding makes and the less sense weightlifting or powerlifting makes for the average person. One of the most destructive myths in fitness is straining for "strength". Powerlifters and weightlifters don't train for "strength". They train to get green lights in a couple arbitrarily chosen lifts using maximum leverage, technique and minimal effort just like a martial artist; powerlifting does not even engage many of your muscles very well or at all (calves, sartorius, forearms, biceps, lateral delts, abs etc.). Strength is always highly (though not nearly entirely) sport specific; from an arm wrestler's perspective powerlifters don't train for strength and vice versa. The strength involved in the discus throw is different from the shot put too because the movements are different. The reason why average people should be wary about chasing big numbers in those arbitrarily chosen lifts is that every body is different and thus those movements do not fit all bodies. It's also a fact of life that powerlifting movements force you to give up a neutral spine which can easily lead to crippling disc herniations. Bodybuilding more or less allows you to find the movements that suit your body and get good at them instead of forcing your body to fit the demands of movements. Everyone will get much stronger over time in the movements of their choice but whether you'll ever be very strong or big is mostly about genetics; people enter the game with vastly different starting points and while everyone can improve tremendously, the height of the ceiling is determined by your relative weakness as a beginner. This also explains in part where the "weak for size" myth comes from; there are anomalies in the world like boys having periods (menstruation) and frail looking people who are surprisingly strong. Naturally these anomalies will gravitate towards sports where they can make it big (in this case strength sports) but that does not mean that the sports made them strong (doing low reps or whatever with joint destroying weight); they would be extremely impressive doing bodybuilding pump workouts as well but that does not win them the prizes unless they have a genetically aesthetic structure as well and those people are even more rare (win the genetic jackpot in both ways at the same time). There are lean, non-bulky female track and field athletes power cleaning over 220 pounds on their first try; do you think those people got there because they trained for "functionality"? Maybe that has something to do with it but it's mostly about them being genetic one percenters with lots of fast twitch muscle fibers. We must not confuse the cause and effect.
I just want to get jacked
I train for the apocalypse ;;D. A dystopian world, where only athletes survive. Let em zombies come! I will fuck em all.
Klokov can be my ally, but Phil Heath would only slow us down. Ok, he can be our decoy with his bloated body. I'm sure the zombies like all that meat ;). Me & mah nigga Klokov will be watching high up on a tree or sum shit.
Double z is a Nazi thing
Honestly Omar seems like a damn genius with his informational content
This video has been done a thousand times by Omar.
Imagine car have 10 engines and they are all work but only one is connected to wheels.
Aesthetics gets you bitches
Strength helps you fuck bitches
TLDR; you need both
Omar, you're a meme on the bodybuilding forums now https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=176583201&p=1569040961#post1569040961
Well easy enough Powerbuilder
Before I watch the video imma tell you why you aren't the bodybuilder! BC YOU CAN'T BE THAT'S WHY
I honestly think if you reach out to Arnold and tell him you want to make a short documentary on how bodybuilding and strongmen intertwine, I am sure he would be interested to drop some knowledge for the newer generations.
Wish Omar made some physic improvements in the last forever, but nope.
Roy says "I want more life 'fucker'" in the theatrical cut of Blade Runner.
I'm benchpress powerlifter, for the rest of my body bodybuilder. Still my chest is my best part
Your not a bodybuilder ! But you bodybuild to look and function like one
Marius pudzianowski 5x WSM ! Bodybuilt and looked like a bodybuilder! Beat all strong men! Bodybuilding is king!
2nd picture is Clancy Ross, not John Grimek
Roids and growth hormones.
the idea of a naturally attainable body has not been changed IMO, its the use of roids and the like being permissible into these competitions (probably bc it rakes in the cash) tied in with new generations of youth thinking that is natural with minor research into it.
Reached epic level under 5 seconds
Edit: great message great video. Getting more fit in a general sense is what got me into cross fit and yoga (yes hate me) and after a year I am getting more and more into strongman and olympic lifting. Physical appearance and becoming fit and strong walk close together and at the end of the day it is also what you want to achieve over what you think you should. Make your own standards.
good shit
Because you dont like to use gymshark… tell the truth you liar
Is this just content for content's sake? Every point here is kind of a given.
Biceps are muscles.Muscle=strength=equals size.
Bad genetics.
13 percent bodyfat and strong is my dream! Leaner than that is unnecessary for a natural. Testosteron and muscle mass drops below that. I am still chubby at 20-25 percent, doing compound lifts, proper powerlifting, trying my best to eat right, avoiding sugar and junk food like the plague! With consistency over time, I will hopefully be fairly lean and strong!
I think “guy who lifts” is the best specification lol.
Does anyone else see the resemblance between this dude and Uhtred from the last kingdom? He’s the more lean version
Wow an actual natty. Rare
Bro, you are just fat and coping. Maybe you should stop being a fat ass and lose some weight and get shredded.
Just want to look good, be strong AF , and be able to still fit enough to run a marathon.
Absolutely. I also enjoyed researching women strength training and bodybuilding history.
cause you are a youtuber
Whoa bro you need to compete
A lot of powerlifting/strongman movements can be beneficial to a BB. except sumo deadlifts. That is just garbage.
Fizeeek
I self identify as lifter-fluid.
Because you can’t be a bodybuilder without gear.
why do you look like joji/papa franku?
Unlike bodybuilders who use tons of drugs, You have a very balanced personality.
I’am a mule there is no other like me 😬😬😬.
Powerbuilder!
You just live until what you have attained. This is what you have attained.
You think you are different from instagram models. However, you are an instagram model.
you look soft like you don't train.
