In my opinion it's good to shock the body by doing different things. Transitioning into power lifting is a good way to grow, and switch up the routine. Bodybuilding is better for some, but until we try different things we can't appreciate what we already know as deeply. Rock on peeps!!
If you are 9 days put who told you to max? Or hit 90 percent? And do sling shot overloading work 9days out. Who ever is helping you should have told you…Do your "opener" and some light triceps work. That's it. Nothing more. Lmao…bad coach and bad comments from the wannabes. She's getting ready for a comp, 9days out…it's not a workout. DLB getting bad coached.
You got this. This is normal. Trust the process and let your taper/recovery do its magic. I had a meet where I missed a 215 squat in practice on Tuesday and hit 297 on Saturday in a USAPL raw meet. The rest will work if you let it. Good luck from the 406!
Can someone explain to me the mindset of a power liffter with their training. What DLB said there about not bein allowed to do certain things, and what she missed … why not go back and do it later?
Heeeey, dont try to maximize on such short time period before competition, you are in danger of burn out (probably you are experiencing it right now). I am amateur powerlifter and what works for me is to try my openers 3 weeks before competition. After that just one week with medium weights and on competition week just deload on Monday and Wednesday with competition on Saturday (example). Like this you will not lost your gains/power and you will be perfectly regenerated for competition. Works for me everytime 😉 aaaaand, if you lost some attempt on training, there could be only two reasons. One – technique, you will know this, you feel something is not working properly, some muscles could be tired, your path could be out, your back was not flexed, and so on….in this case, you know what you have to work on, your technique. Reason Two – you are burned out, you need to step back a little, give some time to your body to regenerate, or try to deload. After short period of this regeneration, you should be where you were or maybe even stronger 🙂

For what it's worth, I hit my openers about 10 days out from the meet and then stop lifting all together (as directed by my coach). Since doing that, I've PR'd at every single one of my meets. My advice, stop lifting now and give yourself ample physical and mental rest 🙂

if the misses are a one off, then chalk it up and move on. If it's happening a lot, then probably you need to deload or dial back the accessory work.
