Today we talk about the Golden Era of Aesthetics and how to tailor your training for your goal. Training like Steve Reeves might not get you a physique like him but understanding how to customize our training for how we want to look is crucial. What do you find aesthetic?!

I really like that he emphasizes the fact that things vary from person to person. He doesn´t sell you the ´this routine is the only way to do it´ BS.

Nice analogy, but almost 12 minutes video, you don´t mention about legs training or cardio , that was not specifics, but always necessary so that goals were achieved a whole body work

Thanks for the lecture, bud! It was very insightful and encouraging to boot. I'll be continuing going to the gym with those core exercises in mind.

Nobody speaks the truth. You don't want to tell the people that food is polluted now. Before it was not the case, and that is the reason why people have problem with digestive system.

I remember reading that Steve Reeves recommending that the traps not be overdeveloped, because in his opinion it made the person look round-shouldered.

I think we just have to admit that us guys these days dint have the testicular fortitude those guys had back in the day. We have too many technologies draining our test levels, our lifestyles are much more easy… the list goes on. We just cant compete with the men of the 50s and 60s even to the 80s. They just weren't subjugated to the frequencies we are with our cellphone next to our balls all day

I love your point about using a bicep exercise that you FEEL working and stick with it. I have been doing this with various other body parts and my exercise selection has changed dramatically. I no longer bench press, or overhead press, but instead I use the decline hammer strength machine, and a cable incline press which I feel works not just my upper chest better than barbell or incline, but also destroys my front delts! For lat pulldowns I am using 2 cable handles which hits my lats so much better than a lat pull down bar.

A random thought: when all fat has been stripped from the mid section and you still seem "blocky" try cinching. Nothing like muscle atrophy to spot reduce.

A construction worker, laborer or farmer does all of his work on his feet, then eats dinner. The result is aesthetic, in my opinion. Bench press, lat pull downs and isolated exercises, especially when combined with supplements and drugs give you an un-natural "gym" look. Go to the gym in the morning, stay on your feet and pick weight off of the ground.

I remember watching the Hercules movies as a kid that had Steve Reeves playing Hercules and thinking, “ I want to look like him when I grow up!” The plot of the movie didn’t matter, it was just him!

People forget one thing back in the old time there was no kfc no Mac. No bulshit cheat meals
Nowadays everyone do a cheat meal 1 time a week… multiplie that for a year off the results are reduced
That’s why Steve was so perfect dude had a great strict diet. Probably the cheat meal was some sausage

Its funny cuz in the Golden era they eat almost anything from stake to doughnuts and still look good AF! while in this era they have a controlled scientific diet high protein diet, Keto diet etc. and they look like monsters with a bubble gut

The thing is no matter how your genetic is, in the golden era, they all had similar look. And that’s what we should focus on. They have the same principles and knowledge on building an aesthetic physique, and that’s what we should know and understand. It’s about the proportion.
