This spoke to me. Experiencing symptoms of burn out, gonna hit the doctors this afternoon. Ive been going on on adrenaline for like 6 months or so, tried to "leave it all" in the gym but you spoke the goddamn truth: your problems still exist. There is no leaving it all in the gym. Time to reflect and tackle this beast the right way.

one of the things that i tell my therapist is often that society has deemed addressing emotional problems to be a "feminine trait" but often our emotion issues stem from a threat to our masculinity (such as a breakup, a bully, assault, abuse, etc), and so then it becomes a catch-22, because addressing the problem feels like adding to it. a willingness to be vulnerable and admit fear is so powerful and brave and can do wonders in lifting a weight off your shoulders (slight pun intended). major props for doing this video.

I can relate. However the satisfaction I felt after achieving the weightlifting goals led me to pursue goals outside the gym. And pretty soon I wasn't just taking weeks and months off but years. And one of the interesting things I discovered is that my muscular gains were relatively permanent. But I never took steroids. I didn't have the money or the nerve. Now that I am finally married — with a very husky well built son (He's only seven) — I don't regret the time I spent in the gym. Somehow natural gains are passed onto your kids.

This is my first time chiming back in after going through several terrible relationships and other shit in my life and still to this day i feel so motivated by your progress and mindset as I did before all the shit in my life tore me away from lifting. I hope you're doing well Omar. Keep kicking ass.

What was that last musical medley at the end ? It’s reminiscent of something, but I just can’t put my finger on it 🤔 it’s got a quest, legends of the hidden temple, Carmen San Diego kind of vibe…

mad to think it takes years for this and I started back into the gym properly again when the last lockdown ended in the uk and 4 and a half months later. 160kg bench press or. 150kg pause rep on incline, 100kg pr OHP and the same post chest. 200kg back squat, 140kg front squat, 220kg deadlift. I have never ever tried strength style training but i’m gonna see what a solid year of this does

I spent 15 years powerlifting recreationally and chasing PR's. But I got to the point where it just seemed like too much risk for not enough reward.

I mean if you're competing in an actual sport, you need to perform. Hell it can even help if you're working an intense manual labor job. But most guys chasing PR's that risk getting snapped up don't use strength outside the gym.

I made a conscious decision at 30 years old not to wind up an old man with chronic joint problems, mobility issues, degenative disc's effecting posture or walking ability, etc..

So I've spent the past 10 years doing more weighted calisthenics, performance conditioning, and keeping any barbell stuff to an RPE of 7-8. I look and feel 10x better at 40 than I did at 25 and my PR's for squat, deadlift, bench, OHP, etc never even cross my mind. 💯

Hate to be the one but your 235lb was cleaner and still not really a legitimate military press….. But it's all good weights so no big deal

Some great philosophical insight, Omar. I've been a fan for years and want to thank you for the entertainment, teachings, and inspiration. Like many others, I would lift as heavy as I possibly could as a form of therapy/escapism during very tough times. After multiple injuries and wisdom gained, both inside and outside of the gym, I have found two things to be of the most importance and help. Love and the fulfillment of working on and completing creative projects. Thank you again, I know that I speak for many people when I say that we truly love and appreciate you.

Yo @OmarIsuf I love your channel and your apparel, but I feel like the Canadian store is getting shafted. I see updates for the US store all the time, but almost never a new/restock on the Canada side. You're from Toronto, you made this Canada store happen. Why is it getting the shaft? Also, bring back that tie dye creatine tank top. It's the best fitting shirt ive ever owned. I want more of it. Your other stringers are tooo skinny for my fat ass.

I literally grew up watching this channel and I relate to what is said in this video very much. Nowadays I lift with passion, but rarely with anger as I did in my youth. I found it gives better results in the long run because you don't have to rely on the anger to hit a lift. Also getting angry all the time really takes a lot of energy out of you, so I feel like I recover quicker when I lift calm.
