My gym (@fortisfitness) understandably closed today. By now, across much of the world, most gyms have closed or will close soon. Optimistic estimates (which can be highly inaccurate) predict this lasting at least a few months.
The place that I rent doesn't have the space or allowance for any meaningful home gym. Likely besides calisthenics training, I won't be doing much lifting for awhile. The timing can be seen as slightly unfortunate as I was closing in on a 610lb deadlift and prepping for my first Strongman competition, in the best shape of my life. I suppose at this time I could be sad and disappointed at things. I'm not.
Not being preachy but in the grand scheme of things, this is HIGHLY insignificant. I know many are likely disappointed and disheartened by the impact this virus has and will have on their everyday lives. I can sympathize.
Personally, I feel this is an opportunity to continue developing what lifting has really crystallized for me: character building. If you personally want to refine yourself, there is no better time to adopt a more Stoic mindset than right now. Read, perhaps some Marcus Aurelius/Lucius Seneca (and not just shitty quotes on Instagram) and expand your perspective.
Lifting is fun and the challenge is enjoyable but IMO strength is only meaningful if it can be expressed somehow. In these times, extending beyond our own personal suffering and attempting to strengthen the community is the strongest act we can do. If you have the capability, be there for someone, think outside of yourself and try to be a pillar in your respective community. The whole concept and agreement of society is that ultimately, we are stronger together. It is time to test this out.
Update: since making this video, I've had a few subscribers reach out to me, offering their home gyms. I kindly thank them all for the invitation. I come into frequent contact with those most at risk of the coronavirus getting severe (the elderly/immunocompromised) and so at least for the first few weeks, I'll be practicing social distancing. Health of others vs the needs of myself. As the situation evolves, I'll update everyone if anything changes.

But I still want to hate on the Chinese for eating bat and causing all this stuff, ruining the chances of people all over the world to go to school and get into our universities, and shutting the gyms and restaurants down.
2 years ago I had pneumonia a month later respiratory failure before I got sick I was coming back from years of hit and miss training due to serious health issues, now I'm been struggling with 135 in squats and benching pneumonia is no joke!!

Sprinting is a great way to stay lean during these times. The force production requirements for sprinting (flat ground, stairs, hills) may make the strength decrease less drastic, and may help us get back on track quicker when we get back to normal.

Gymnastics rings + 1.5in diameter rope + kettlebells + weight vest + bands + calisthenics + jogging + sprinting + jumping, taking all my gpp modalities and programming them in to a concurrent periodization full body 2x a week + skill work on off days, today is
Ring Dips, Ring Chins, 60lb vest + 35lb plate reverse lunges, OA KB OHP, KB swings, band good mornings + band leg curls, ido's squat and shoulder mobility routines
i have a door chin pull bar, a dip bar.. and i bought bands.. idk if this will do anything fo rme. but ill be doing it daily now. hope it helps

i can tell you what i did ,
1..go home
2. turn on shower (cold water)
3.assume fetal position
5.spend the 2 hours i would of spent in the gym mourning my gains
6.bro down

I have no equipment at home but my gym let me take home two 25kg bumper plates and a 20kg stiff bar. I've set up a (safe) makeshift squat rack and can add two 20kg buckets to the 70kg I have. I filled two buckets with concrete weighing 40kg each for farmers walks. Making the most of it!

Having a home gym even just a bench with some dumbells or a barbell is the best investment you guys can do right now. I got a power rack that i can many exercises on with some dumbbells too. Pre owned stuff that was cheap. Invest now cause this could go on for months and it will keep you sane.

I hate training at commercial gyms. I don't need no partners, machines or crowds. All I need is the Iron. Tonight is bench night, Lifting hard and heavy.

This why i stopped trying for crazy physique, life gets in the fing way, sure u can usually fight or overcome it but u cant even go on vacation lol, idunno.
