@letrasherfou I have tried it both ways. For me the main difference is when I see people use plantar flexion, they never keep their foot straight. If you keep your foot straight, it should work. Try both and let me know what you like best!

My goodness, I wish my gym had more hamstring machines. They only have two. My old gym in Atlanta had a gazillion, it seemed…

What's the main difference between lying and standing leg curls?
Is one more effective than the other?
Thanks

@tony642321 Personal preference. I feel like I am able to focus harder on the hamstring when I am standing

@ScottHermanFitness I have a short achilles tendon so I have "toe walking disorder"
As a result I have rly strong calves. I calf press at the gym with every calf machine on max weight (648Ibs) and I do 70 reps…which doesn't rly work my calves out…so I was wondering what exercise I could do to work out my calves if everything feels light on them? lol weird question, but I rly want to exercise them and I can't with everything feeling like feather.

are the quadriceps and the hip flexors the antagonists or synergists here? these two confuse me. i think the knee is the synergist and the quads and hip flexors are antagonists??

I would take Scott's word over mine, but I've been told that the seated ones focus more on your inner hamstrings.

Much better than the lying version – more hip flexion means the tendons are pre-stretched.

See problem is my gym doesnt have something like this. The other way is using the leg extension machine in a different way but its hard to do.

The standing leg curl gives perfect focus to the biceps of the hamstrings, or also called the biceps femoris
