I think them using the Term Mass-hole may have double meaning if they believe you are just another pumped up gym addict. Which I don't believe you are, you seem to be an intelligent man who has genuine concern for the physical health of not only your self but for those around you. I believe everyone should try and maintain some sort of musculature; however if this particular neighbor has not met you personally they may have made some assumptions and are trying to hit you with two insults at once. Keep Herbie growing strong and healthy and don't back down to people who don't even have the decency to tell you to your face.
