YES, women need protein too! Of course, what you eat depends entirely on what you're working for, as everyone has different goals! To break it down in the most basic of ways–if you're trying to lose weight, carb heavy foods are better before a workout, as they provide the energy you'll need to get the most out of your workout. Protein is key after a workout, to help rebuild your muscles and restock your depleted energy stores. Hope that's a little helpful:)

Yes you need protein and carbs. Protein helps rebuild muscle tissue and carbs are your body's chief source for energy. Both of these things are necessary after a workout because your body needs energy and protein to heal and strengthen your muscles.
