BIG Shoulders…WIDE Back with just 1 Exercise! – ATHLEAN-X™

by YouTube Team

Sometimes when your day is busy and it’s tough to get in a long workout you need to be able to do 1 exercise that will target your shoulders and back at the same time.

Too often people will skip their workout all together instead of trying to figure out how they can get in a great shoulder exercise or back exercise…in the same exercise. It’s a principle I call muscle fire fusion. Taking two muscle groups that work well together and getting them to both contribute to the exercise.

The saying that the total is greater than the sum of its parts has never been more true. Watch this shoulder and back exercise combo and see for yourself how you can take your shoulder muscle growth and back thickness to a whole other level.

When you’re done watching this then make sure to head over to and get the entire system for building strong, lean and athletic muscle. Let celebrity physical therapist and former New York Mets strength coach Jeff Cavaliere show you exactly how he does it with his top pro athletes with his AthLEAN-X Training System.

How much will this engage the rear delts? As much as a cable face pull for instance? Cheers.

This is great! Also, I tried the inverted hanging rows last week using some monkey bars at the YMCA. It really felt great and worked the right stuff safely. Thanks

Jeff if I did that but using the machine with the long bar attachment lean back and pull towards me will it work out both? because that's a exercise I use and I find it works well but I'm not sure if it's targeting my shoulders much

Jeff, my workout regiment consists of: Chest/Tri's, Back and Biceps, Legs, and then Shoulders and Traps. (I do core/sit-ups) every day I work out.  I then rest for 2 days still doing core, and then start again.  Is there a 'BEST' way to group your exercises?

That rack must be good and heavy. Did something like this in our crappy little gym and lifted the back of the machine off the ground.

Hi Jeff, how long will the bands last with their tension elasticity, in general, not specifically for this exercise.
Thanks in advance 👍

I don't have a mid-point connection for my bands. I have a door attachment that's either over or under it. What would you recommend?
