Isnt yoga always/mostly about combining breath with movement? For example also in hatha yoga vor whatever styles exist. (I am a yoga noob;)

Sorry, but your Sanskrit is off.

Nyasa is renunciation. The prefix "vi" is "Viseshena", meaning "Special". Vinyasa means "To Renounce in a special way".

Sannyasa is a similar word. Nyasa means renunciation. "San" prefix means "Sampoorna", meaning "Everything" or "Complete". So Sannyasa means "Complete Renunciation".

Similarly, there are words such as "Vimoodha". "Moodha" means "An Idiot", and "Vimoodha" means "A Special Idiot".

When u do a pose is there ever a wrong way to do it? Are those poses where we have to be careful for injury? Or do we just do what feels right ? Thank youn

Hi Adriene! I love that you took the time to expand on yoga vocabulary and what it might mean to deepen your practice. I would love to see other videos or blog posts like this exploring a little about the history of yoga and the other limbs of yoga or maybe just recommendations for where to learn more, just so people know what’s out there!

As a note, I’m a new subscriber, so I’m not sure what you’ve already touched on besides seeing your Pranayama playlist and blogpost on Ahimsa.

Love this! Number 1 because you are wearing a shirt from 5th grade. Second, it makes so much sense. Think of the english word “movement” and how many definitions it has, and how casually, as native english speakers, we sprinkle that word throughout our conversations. Movement…. physically changing your position. Movement…. a section of music. Movement… a theme for which a number of people share support. Move….. to effect someone or something emotionally. Move… to take something from one place and put it in another. So for someone whose first language is something other than english the word move could be very confusing as well.

Thank you for these explanations and the conversation. This is how you are bringing the world together and helping us open our eyes to those things that we assume people understand but about which we should take extra care and time to understand.
